Question about Car Audio & Video
First up ensure nothing is sitting in the way of the sensor on the CD Player. Ensure you have a good set of batteries in the remote. Because of the low current drain remotes have on batteries many people tend to use old batteries they find laying around the house. If you are 100% sure the batteries are OK the check the ends of each battery and the terminals they touch inside the remote for corrosion or dirt. An easy clean is a piece of ordinary printing paper (you'd be surprised how abrasive it can be) Rub the connections with the paper a number of times and look to see if any dirty marks accumulate on the paper, I'll bet it will. also rub each end of each battery on the paper also.
Now insert the batteries, making sure the are placed the right way around. Now using just your fingertips rotate each battery in the battery compartment,. This again ensures a good electrical contact.
Now try your remote to see if it works. If it doesn't and you are still 100% sure the batteries are good (try them in a torch or other appliance to ensure they work) the remote itself may be faulty. It could be anything from the actual Infra-red LED being faulty (assuming it is an infra-red remote) to serious problems in the circuitry.
Sorry to keep mentioning batteries but I assure you a large percentage of remote problems start and finish with the batteries. Please let me know the outcome.
