Question about LG DU-42PX12XC 42 in. Plasma HDTV
I want to ship this TV down to my family (has been a great TV btw), and just want to know how to remove the stand from the bottom. I think the panel just slipped into the stand on setup, but now it seems stuck in there.
Any help would be appreciated.
Well there are 4 screws to get the stand off. Once you remove them it should pull straight off. If you have trouble, flip the TV upside-down so that the stand it up in the air. Do this on a carpeted floor. Then grab the stand and pull it up. It may be snug, but it should come right off. Best wishes, I hope this was helpful.

I downloaded the user manual to see if there was indication in there, and they do not mention a thing. It may be an "interference" fit, where the shape of the base stand mounting plinth is trapezoidal shaped so it effectively "wedges" itself up there. It may take even levering about the base to release the this sort of interference fit. Generally speaking, stands that do not have 2-6 screws to lock the pedestal in place that are installed from the rear, may have some sort of click lock system that that needs to be released to remove the stand from the set. Check first on the back of the set for screws marked with a large arrow, or a plastic click lock to depress, and also from the bottom of the pedestal, to see if there is any locking clip up inside the base stand itself that needs to be released. Keep the set vertical at all times. It should be shipped that way as well. They do not travel well laying face or back down(panel damage). The original packing is the best way to go. If you don't have it, perhaps check with your local TV retailers to see if they can spare you one, even if not for your set, is better than nothing. regards robotek

Tips for a great answer:
Dec 18, 2012 | LG 42LG70 42 in. LCD HDTV
1) Carefully lay the front of the unit face down on a flat, cushioned surface such as a quilt or blanket. Leave the stand protruding over the edge of the surface.
Extreme care should always be used when removing the pedestal stand to avoid damage to the LCD panel.
2) Remove the jack pack cover on the back of the TV to expose the pedestal stand screws. The jack pack cover can be removed without tools.
3) Remove the five screws shown in the diagram below. This will allow removal of the pedestal stand.
4) Once you have removed all five screws holding the pedestal stand in place, remove the pedestal stand from the TV by sliding the pedestal stand a way from the TV (Remorve 5, 4mm or 5/32" Allen Bolts from back of TV.)
