I have a Hohner amp that has sound coming from earphones when I plug them into the headphone jack, but there's no sound coming out of the speaker itself when the earphones are unplugged. How do I fix that?

The headphone socket acts as a switch for main audio and headphone line. either u have a defective socket or the power amp is defective. headphone line is driven by a preamp, which is working - if power amp is defective- headphone works but power amp fails. try changing the headphone socket first.

HOW DO I GET SOUND ???

Your HP Pavilion F1903 monitor does not have built-in speakers. Your desktop computer probably did not come with speakers. You will have to plug computer speakers into the audio-out jack (green) on the back of your computer to play through external speakers.

There are also a number of USB speaker systems available that use USB both for power and for the audio signal.

Alternatively, there is probably an earphone jack on the front panel of your computer. If you plug headphones into that you should be able to listen on your headphones.

When I plug my earphones into the headphone jack, the sound still comes through the laptop speakers, not the earphones

Forgive if this is too simplistic, but 2 suggestions before digging into the laptop: Confirm that you are plugging into the headphone jack and not the mic jack. Second, try a different set of earphones - sometimes buds with a mic capability like for a cell phone don't respond the same as pure headset.

Can't get the headphone sound working from the laptop

The Laptop has 3 Ports on the side- Pink,Green,Black
Pink Port is LineIn for an external device player jack

Green Port is LineIn for the Microphone jack
Black Port is LineOut for Headset or External Speakers jack

Plug the Green jack on Headphone - into the Black Port on the laptop.
b) Go to Control Panel and open - RealTek HD Audio manager
On the top of Page are 3 Icons -

One Icon is labelled Speakers One is for Digital optics, one is for Mic,
The Speakers Icon is misleading as it is also for Headphones (LineOut)

Select Speaker Icon and make it Default. Also tick Full Range - Front LR
Ignore the 4 vertical Analog Icons on the right side.

You should now have Headphone sound if your volume is not Muted.

click start control panel on the left select hardware and sound then select manage audio devices then recording you should see a microphone right click select enable windows 7

click start control panel on the left select hardware and sound then select manage audio devices then recording you should see a microphone right click select configure speech recognition then

you will see earphones with a speaker among a list set up a microphone headset with microphone then next and next again you should see your earphones with microphone being configured

click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it or select audio from the microphone drop down list

make sure you have the right one selected and in the volume box make sure the microphone box has a tick in it or

select the voice tab

make sure that you have the right media selected also

select volume make sure the box for microphone has a tick in it

or you might have to depending on your operating system
Click start Control Pannel
click on Hardware and Sound

click on Sound
then you devices should come up ; speakers, Digital Audio, and headphones

plug your headphones in
then select headphones

at the bottom it will say set as default
select that!!

then when you disconnect your headphones it automatically switches to the speakers and when you plug them back in it automatically will switch to headphones

Hope this helps.

When I plug in my headphones into the earphone jack on the HP xw4600 workstaion and play music i can hear the music from the 2.1 speaker

If you are saying when earphone plug is inserted you still have sound from speakers either jack on headphones is wrong(stereo or mono?) or the socket the jack plugs into is defective---when a jack is inserted it moves a leaf in the socket to turn the main speakers off.

I'm not getting any sound out of the speakers. I have sound through my headphones but cann't get anything out of any speakers.

Hi,

If you can hear the sound from the headphone(earphone jack), the fault is between the headphone itself or the speakers. Check the continuity of the speakers(voice coil) using the multimeter to determine if it is faulty or not.

If you've confirmed that the speakers are not the issue here, you may spray an electrical contact cleaner to the earphone jack of your unit while pulling and inserting the headset plug to clean the contact from dirt build-up inside. You may also replace the earphone jack with new one to back the unit in normal operation.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

I have a Panasonic Sa-HT930 surround sound system. Plugging in headphones does not turn off the speakers, yet I can still hear sound through the headphones. How do I get the speakers to turn off??

The switch of the main speaker does not engage when you plug inn your earphone it's suppose to turn off the main speaker.you need to clean the contact of the switch of the jack.Open the cover of reciever and go to the earphone jack spray it with a contact cleaner then try again.if the same thing happen replace the jack with a new one.

No sound from my stereo but powers on and can see EQ is moving. But when I plug my headphones in i get sound just nothing from the Speakers

Hi,
Your problem is in between the speakers and your earphone jack but it has a hight chance that the fault is in the earphone jack.
Since when you plug your headseat, sound is coming out, this is an indication that your output IC is working. When you plug the headset the line will cut-off through your main speaker to hear the sound in the earphone only. But if you unplug the headset the contact will back to the main speaker. The problem is, the lead is dirty due to dust. You can spray it using the contact cleaner. I will not advice you to spray any penetrating oil but contact cleaner only. If the symptom is still there then this is the time to replaced the earphone jack with a new one.
Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day.
Thanks for using fixya.

Sounds come from speaker and headphone at the same time

Firstly are you sure your are plugging the earphone in the right jack? If so, the jack is probably bad, and you may need to have a hardware tech look at it for you.
Sorry!
