Rubbing sound in dryer drum (Bosch WTMC 3300)

Today my dryer started to make a "rubbing" sound on all cylces when on--both with a load and without. When trying to move the drum by hand there is quite a bit of resistance but it does move (although I've never tried to move it before so that may or may not be normal).

Of course the manual doesn't tell how to take apart or inspect the drum but that's what I'd like to do so see if there's something in there that shouldn't be. I'm looking for advice on how to do this or other thoughts about fixing it. (It's no longer under warranty & I live in the country and can only imagine the cost of a service call so would like to tackle it.)

Thanks for any help.

1. Front Panel is held by 4 Torx #20 bolts. NO need to remove this part for Belt, Bushing Grease job.

2. To access Rear Part.
- Again, no need to remove Front Panel.
- UNPLUG Power!

- Undo Vent Hose.
- Remove TOP Panel by removing 2 back screws and lift the REAR, then pull it toward the Rear of the Dryer machine and set it aside.

- Three bolts hold the electrical wires.Leave them alone.
NOTE: If you decide to remove any wires, clear mark them like 1,2,3,4 to avoid confusion.
- Remove the Torx #20 bolts, then remove the REAR Cover.
- Bushing is held by E-clip
- Support “Drum” with a piece of 2x4 wood.

- Note the Heater Box slides in with 2 tabs at the bottom.
- Note the Round Metal Vent Pipe (that connects to the flexible vent hose) is held by 2 screws. Do NOT remove the bottom screw. Remove only TOP screw.
- Note the Electrical Motor has a reset switch at the bottom. Squeeze them to reset the Electrical Motor.
- Note how the belt goes.

Anyway, all you need is grease the REAR Bushing with some car wheel bearing grease.

Fixya224, I just took my bosch nexxt dryer apart today because I was getting a rubbing, grinding sound. I started by removing the control panel, 4 srews under the small white cover caps. Then I removed the top. I think there was 4 screws holding it in place but its the nylon connectors that cause the most difficulty. The entire top must slide backward about .375 inch and then it will lift off. I also removed the back, about 3 million screws, and the front about 6 screws. If I remember correctly you'll have to remove the door hinge to get to one of the screws. On the latch side remove a small piece of plastic to gain access to a second screw. When all was said and done I found a metal clothes button, wedged between the drum and the felt bearing surface. After removing the button I dressed the drum edge with a piece of emery cloth, reassmbled (it was easier getting it apart) and it's as good as new. Good luck, Mike

Most everything can be replaced... check to see if you have rollers or wheels a glide or slide type arrangement...
Most of the sites have good pictures so you can match up the picture with what you need..

My bosch Nexxt WTMC 3300 dryer makes a squeaking sound when the load is light -- drying a larger/wetter load less likely to make the noise.

I had a similar problem with a different model Bosch dryer. First I made sure the dryer was unplugged. I found, after taking the front and rear panels off, that one of the front wheels that supports the drum was broken. I replaced the wheel and it works fine with no squeaks.

Squeaks from drum area during operation

Hi there!

I think it is the drum main bearing that has started to sieze.

If it is not this, then the drive belt may need replacement.

If this leads to a solution, please take a moment to accept. Thank you.

The dryer completed it's cycle and the next day went to fluff the load and will not start on any cycle. The display is lit with run time showing but nothing else.

Clean out the condenser....and the drum filter. Ifm this does not fix it there is a resetable thermostat on the heater bank at the back behind the cover plate.

Sure sounds like a door switch to me. Is anyone slamming the dryer door? Was there a rubber bumper on the door that is now gone?
