I have a Samsung AV-R720 Receiver. When I turn on the system, the right channel crackles for 10-20 seconds, then slowly goes away. What is the problem, what board do I replace to get rid of problems??? Where do I get the board and how much will it cost??

  • jbrown6132 Apr 28, 2010

No, none of these points are an issue, I switch speaker, or wires it isolates to the right channel. When I went on line and went to a Samsung web site, this issue is not uncommon. They stated that its usually in the unit, and that the board was the issue. That why I asked which board and how much, and where do I get it!!! Thats why I was specific on the Brand and model.

This has nothing to do with shielding or noisy controls or bad cables.

The problem is caused by the PULSUS PS9829B digital audio processor. We ordered it in from a Samsung authorized service centre.
Problem is now solved. Unit works perfectly. If you have never tried working with surface-mount ICs I would skip it if I were you. This IC has over 100 pins on it. However the part is available from Samsung. Print this comment and take it to your local service centre along with your receiver. They should be able to repair the board unless they are wussies and cannot do surface-mount work.

Almost all static noise is an issue of shielding ...so ..check (change ) the cable ...or the coupling (jack or whatever plug it has) ..check to be inserted right ..and move it a little and see if it has a position in which it makes the noise...if it does than the plug is to blame and it can be changed...probably the noise disappears when slightly moved or something like that ...This is applied to the cable too ...see if it is nearby any electrical device ...and check if the actual noise is heard when that device is on ....Any electrical device has an electr-magnetic field that (in case the shielding of the cable is not right or damaged in some place) will interfere with the steaming on the cable..
so ...to check if it is the cable ...just change them between themselves and see if teh static is still present ...if is not..get another cable...
also check the thing with the device ...you may have a TV or something like that and the cable passes near by ...and when this one is on to make the noise..

sorry it was just a misunderstanding...I was under the impression that it is an issue of a background noise...in this case it is the chanel amplification circuit...all systems these days have an amplification integrated circuit for each chanel apart ...and this is to blame ...its easy to locate them in the main unit ..cause there are as many as speakers..(channels for pared speakers)..and all you have to do is locate it and replace...if you have the actual diagram its easier..if not ..it is a chance that to be named..or to locate it by tracing from the output on the board...or just measure it ..to see which one is dead..

hmm if you locate the part ..it looks like a regular integrate about one inch long and (spider like ) half a cm wide...Im not sure about the serial ..but is written on it ..and here in Europe costs about 2 E (3 dollars)Im not sure there ..but the issue is the hand work ...if you do it yourself is fine...if you take it somewhere .it may cost about 30 or 40 bucks..but id it is only one chanel ...this is the only thing that can affect the volume..

you can get it on eny electronic parts store..or if you locate and copy the serial on it ..even on eBay..

Hi,

Thanks for writing to Fixya.com.

Indeed, the gain switches in the MK I and MK I+ when brand new can cause the static you are experiencing. If you use come electronics cleaner and spray it into the switch and then move it to the various positions several times, it should resolve the issue.

Thanks for contacting Fixya and please accept the solution if it has helped you.

What is the Panorama, c-width and the dimension effects on my receiver?

copied from av-r720 pdf manual:
C-WIDTH : This sets the width of the centre image. The higher the setting, the less sound comes from the centre speaker.
• DIMENSION : Incrementally adjusts the sound field (DSP)from the front or surround.
• PANORAMA : This mode extends the front stereo image to include the surround speakers for an exciting "wraparound" effect with side wall imaging.

Samsung AV-R720 - front right speaker crackles

THIS RECEIVER IS JUNK. I had the same problem with my receiver and Samsung gave me a new unit as it was under warranty. 8 months later the replacement which was brand new did the same thing. Samsung tells me it is my problem now. I should have demanded another unit. the best advice I have is not to buy this product. Samsung won't help you when it breaks and it will break. Nobody seems to know how to fix it.......
