Question about LG BD590 BluRay Player

Open Question

I have a LG BD390 that was connected to a wifi network and worked. However, after having company over the unit got reset and now I can see the available network but I cannot connect to it. I am assuming that it is a dynamic IP. It asks for the password to connect but says it cannot connect after I put it in. I am 90% of the password but now I am having second thoughts as to what it is. I wrote it down but am unsure how to verify it on the computer. All I can find is the length with **** blocking out the actual pass. Anyone have any ideas?

SOURCE: LG Split unit turns itself off after a couple of seconds of opera

Check your remote control using your camera or cellphone camera as your eyes. Point the remote control transmitter to your camera and "on", light should emit in your remote control transmitter (means good remote). Reset the unit by disconnecting the power supply for 10 sec. then "on" again and start the unit. If it wont work you need a qualified tech. to solve the problem.Some of your safety device might be defective.

I had a similiar problem with my BD390...Saw the SSID but not able to log on. I ended up performing a downgrade of firmware from LG's support page and corrected it. Afterwards upgraded firmware to current levels and works still ok.

YOu can add a wireless extender to your network and position the extender near the blu-ray.
Look at these models. I personally like the Linksys model. Http://Amazon.com/extender

This can be so many things that trying to fix it by just reading the post, and without knowing if there was any changes, it's pretty difficult.
If the problem is that while searching for the network, the wifi don't see it, this could be the drivers or the wifi card.
If the information to connect tot he router is lost overtime, this could be a faulty memory RAM or the back up battery going bad.
Then again, the diagnose could be anything.

We switched from cox Cable to Direct TV. The BD390 works normally through an Apple Airport Express with an Ethernet connection to a Motorola SB 6120 modem. The system does everything it is supposed to...

So practically you want to use the BR390 as an access point, to route the data from the Apple to the DVR. No, this isn't possible since the player doesn't have routing capabilities.
But you can do something else: instead of the Apple (which is just a very simple router with some minor extra capabilities sold ad an outrageous price) you could get a way better normal router for a lot less than $100 and connect all devices thru LAN cables in an local network.

Try disabling BD-Live.
On the LG BD390 go to the Home screen then select the following:
Settings-->Network-->BD-Live Connection
You have three options: Permitted, Partially Permitted (default), and Prohibited.
Change the setting to Prohibited.
Now reload the disk and try again.
If that doesn't work try clearing the BD Storage (memory about the disks you play).
Again from the Home screen:
Settings-->Others-->BD Storage Clear
I think changing the BD-Live setting will stop the problem you're experiencing. If that works, you could also try changing the setting to Permitted.
I am experiencing issues with some of the very latest Blu-Ray disks, such as Avatar and Date Night. I don't have enough experience to be sure yet, but so far the evidence points to a new setting or standard in the disk industry that does not play well with the Partially Permitted default setting on the LG BD390 and a few other Blu-Ray players.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
