My block wall got wet because of a neighbors drainage problem. the drainage problem is fixed but the face of the block is a little crumbled, loose etc. if I wire brush it the loose stuff falls off. I want to repaint it but think something else should be painted on first with more body to it than paint. What should I do

OK, there would be some repair work that needs to be done first.

Use the wire brush to take out the loose stuff(Reason: If you do not take out the loose stuff first, any paint that you put on will not stay for long as it come off).

After taking out the loose stuff, fill the empty area with some POP(Plaster of paris), found easily, dries easily abd is durable.

Once that is fixed you can paint it the way you want.

How do I find the drain pan for the air conditioner in my 2003 mitsubishi spyder eclipse

Sounds like you have a blocked drain hose that drains the water that runs down your windshield when it rains or you get a carwash. Look under the car right in-line with the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side, you should see a little drainage hole. Stick a coat hanger up the tube to unblock the drainage tube.

Which way do you face a dehumidifier

Normally that will not matter too much unless you want to reduce the heat you accumulate in the work space with those. They do produce a lot of heat in the process of drying the air going into the compressor..

I have two (back to back separated by a wall) Kohler toilets. Model K3589-47. One is always loosing the water in the bowl. It leaks out slowly but always does it. When I flush the toilet on the opposite...

You will need to check the drainage fitting these toilets are draining into. If it is a cross tee fitting without a baffle you are getting throw over across the fitting and it will not stop. The only fix for this is to replace the fitting in your drainage system. In Illinois it is a code violation to put this type of fitting in that application.

When these power flush toilets come out it made this problem worse. In short there is no fix for this problem other than redoing the drainage system.

I have an extension in my house where the bricks are flaking and crumbling. its not rising damp as the bricks are very dry. the worst affected areas are just under the window sills. Please help Vladimir

Check all round the window and ensure a good seal with the brick and sill [use silicon sealant at the joint between the window frame and the brick & sill and brick] and that the sill has a drip bar [ridge or channel under the sill running sideways at the furthest away from the wall] If not put one on the underside. Almost anything will do [sounds silly but an elastic band will do temporary or even a line of the silicon] so long as it collects the drips from the sill. also ensure that the sill slopes downward & away from the wall
How old is the extension ?? I ask because if it is 50+ yrs you may have lime mortar which lets the bricks breath and if this has been re-pointed later with non- lime mortar [i.e. portland cement mortar] any water which gets in above will not escape out through the lime mortar below.
Secondly, if this is a north or east facing wall getting little sun and if the bricks were originally not good, frost & freezing will cause the flaking.
Bricks - has the wall been built with facings or commons. commons will spoil [flaking] sooner.
Do your bricks have a frog. That is a hollow in the middle [& looks a bit like a cake which has sunk in the middle] The frog should be facing down otherwise water will collect You can only check this by taking a brick out [applies mainly to modern bricks ]

Water leaking in glove box? looks like there is a hose that comes into the box... water is dripping from that hose under the near the back of the engine .

There are three possible fluid can leak though the glove box.

Leaves and dirty block the drainage pathway..
Rain water/car wash water will seek the lowest spot.

AC condenser water drainage pathway may be block.

Windshield washer hose come off and window washer fluid somehow find it was to the interior.

Try to identify the smell of the liquid. It may just be Wet ones wipes.

Good luck
