GSD4020Z07BB won't drain. replaced pump and piston nut

When you replaced the pump I am assuming you replaced the whole assembly that pumps water for the wash and drain. See item 310 in this diagram.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/GE-Parts/Dishwasher-Parts/Model-GSD4020Z07BB/0432/0130000/G0040034/00003?blt=15&prst=&shdMod=

If the dishwasher goes through the wash cycle then it was unlikely the thing that was faulty. The pump is shared by both the wash and drain cycle. It is likely the impeller (item 429) is not getting the pulse to change direction so that it draws water from the drain sump to the drain hose rather then to the wash arms as it does in wash cycle. The solenoid connection might be faulty or the controller output is not there.

Frigidaire 18" dishwasher arm is not spinning, and dishwasher is making a very loud noise.

Hi Ellie, this is AP!

I understand you are experiencing some trouble with your Frigidaire built-in dishwasher. Without knowing the exact model number I would assume there are two spray arms on this dishwasher, are both arms not moving or just one? Keep in mind that some dishwashers have two spray arms that turn at alternate times. They will never move at the same time. The changing of the arms starts at different times depending model and will continue through the end of the selected wash cycle.
If you can provide the model number for the dishwasher I should be able to provide you with the instructions to remove the spray arms or you could contact the manufacture they may supply it to you also. You could also apply rinse aid to the junction between the spray arms and mount to see if it will relieve the arm to spin. If not, please reply back with the model number so I could provide a more educated response.

Best Wishes,

Model DWU9200AAX holding water

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

This is usually caused by either a restricted drain, (usually the problem) or larger than usual particulate under the lower wash arm tower.
The restricted drain can manifest itself:
- At the air gap at the sink (remove cover by lifting straight up then unscrew the inner cap nut and remove the particulate) NOTE the installed position of the upper cap under the nut as it will only go back together in one position)
- At the Air Gap outlet hose connections (remove hoses 2 ea. and inspect plastic tubing)
- At the sink connection. This can be either a direct plumbing connection or a garbage disposal connection. (remove the hose and inspect drain port hole for the connection.)
- At the pump outlet, (remove hose and inspect drain port) < last step

If after doing the above you still have drain problems you will have to remove the lower wash arm and support to inspect the sump area for debris. NOTE: Pay close attention to how the lower wash arm is assembled.... they can end up being a rubitz cube!

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Control panel unresponsive

open up the inner door shell after powering down the unit from the power source, wiggle and remove and replace all ribbon cable connections on the electronic control panels and any other connections you can see, moisture corrodes these connections after years and removing and re-installing these will sometimes wipe off any corrosion for a better connection to the machine the screws are on the inside of the door to access the control panel

The spray arm, above the top rack, keeps unscrewing during the wash cycle. Just the arm comes off leaving a round plastic part attached to the top. This can be unscrewed and inside is a white 'washer'. The...

Could the arm be mounted upside down and rotating the wrong way? Just an idea... Some of these can fit either way and the retainer will fit either side of the arm.

Does not pump water during the wash cycle.

It sounds like you are on the right track.

Open the dishwasher, remove the bottom rack, then remove the thumb nut in the middle of the unit that secures the lower wash arm and housing. Look for debris and clear any you find. Try again. If no joy, you will have to repeat the first step and also remove the wash pump upper housing that is secured with torx head screws. Same thing after you remove it - look for debris in the impeller area and remove it.

If you have to remove the wash impeller, you will need a 1" offset box wrench and as I recall a 1/4" socket. The 1" offset box wrench is needed to keep the impeller from turning while you remove the center nut. You will also need to remove the upper discharge line retainer clip to get that out of your way. Inspect the impeller for any debris and especially cracks or missing blades. If the impeller is damaged it will need to be replaced.

While you have this thing apart, check the lower wash arm and upper wash arm discharge pipe assembling for any obstructions.

I am assuming the motor runs ok and the timing cycles seem normal.

My 10 yr old kichenaid dishwasher is making a grinding noise do y

Well a grinding noise could come from any moving part. It could be the wash arm, motor, or pump. Remove the wash arm and clean all that you can reach with a nylon brush. If that doesn't do it, call the repairman.

Kenmore Dishwasher 665.15789300 not washing, but gets water

The chopper blade assembly with in the pump housing is either clogged or broken, to get to it, you must remove spray arm and remove screws from filter housing. These are size 20 torx, inside sump are 2 more screws size 15 torx, after these are removed you can clean out chopper or replace it.

Dishwasher makes a clunk noise

Hi. My guess is that it's the upper arm hitting something then! If it started suddenly I'd check that the upper bar attachment hasn't been dislodged from its proper location on the upper basket, and that the spraybar retaining nut hasn't come loose.

It happens on my machine all the time as the upper arm assembly has worn loose on the upper basket, AND the spraybar is worn where it attached to the static part so the whole thing wobbles as it goes round. An additional washer under the spraybar retaining nut might tighten it up a bit.

Hope this helps you a bit. If it does, a "Fixya" rating would be much appreciated. If it doesn't help you, I'd be grateful if you didn't bother with a rating at all. Cheers, D
