Question about Microsoft Computers & Internet

2 Answers

I have had an MSN.com email address for years (designerimports@q.com), but on April 20th I was fooling around online and started what I thought would be an additional new hotmail account ''ckdi@live.com''. ( I had previously had a ''rocketmail'' account that could be accessed independently. )  I did not intend for this to replace my formal email address, but I cannot figure out how to restore the original. This is a potential disaster! Can you help me!

I did as you said, went to the qwest site, but there is no way to login.  Instead, in bright red, it simply states "your membership is not allowed to use this service."

I have no idea what that means.  We get phone, internet, wifi in a bundle from qwest.  Any more ideas?

For some reasons you may want to restore your account. The most common problems deal with synchronization issues. Keep in mind that your emails in the Local Folders as well as your Security Settings will be deleted. It will not affect the status of your subscription.

1- Sign out and close the MSN Software

2-Double-click on the butterfly icon on your desktop as if you wanted to resign in. If it tries to automatically sign in click on Cancel

3- Press Ctrl + **** + F11, the following message will pop -up:
I have had an MSN.com email address for years - addressbook.gif

4- Click on Remove Account and go through the steps to reset it as if you just discovered MSN.

Your webabsed data will be synchronized again and as a result, the potential synchronization problems you experienced will be removed.
If your error is still present, you will have to uninstall the MSN Software

The step 3 has been mutilated. It's supposed to be: Press Ctrl+Shift+F11, and then a message will pop up that let's you choose between "Remove Account" and "Cancel"

You can get the correct answer from MSN. I dropped AOL after 19 years for that same reason.

How do i set up an email account

MSN boasts its free email service, Hotmail, as the "efficient way to do e-mail."
Indeed, MSN offers several perks such as advanced security protection, email accessibility with your cell phone and one-stop inboxing, or the ability to bring all your email addresses together.
Once you complete the process of setting up an account with MSN, you'll be able to use your new Hotmail email address.

Open up your Internet browser to the MSN "Create your email address" page.
Select the country or region of the world you live in.

Choose the name you would like to appear before the "@hotmail.com" part of the address. Besides letter and numbers, you can also use hyphens, periods and underscores to personalize your email address.
Press "Check Availability" when you have typed in your desired name to make sure it is not already claimed.

Create a password for your account; your password must have six or more characters.
You'll be prompted to type in your desired password twice.
To protect yourself from identity theft and fraud, you should create a strong password for your email account.

Select a security question from the pull-down menu and provide the answer to the question.
In case you forget your password, you'll be able to retrieve that information upon giving the correct answer.
Or, provide another email address that you use; MSN will send your forgotten password to that email address.

Provide your personal information such as your name, birth date, gender, state, zip code and the time zone you live in.
Enter the characters you see on your screen for verification purposes.
Read through Microsoft's service agreement and online privacy statement and click "Accept" when you are done.
Navigate to the "Sign In" page for Hotmail.
Type your user name (name@hotmail.com) and password in the appropriate spaces; click "Sign In."
Now you are ready to use your MSN email address.

www.viewbix.comWhether you've noticed or not, you have a new primary email address listed as your Facebook contact and most likely, it's an address you've never used.
The social-networking site has quietly replaced your default email addresses such as Gmail and Yahoo! with your @Facebook.com address, an email service option the company launched a few years ago and synced with Timeline in April.
"As we announced back in April, we've been updating addresses on Facebook to make them consistent across our site," a Facebook spokesperson told Mashable. "In addition to everyone receiving an address, we're also rolling out a new setting that gives people the choice to decide which addresses they want to show on their Timelines."

Hi:

I am not sure who you are addressing: " Why would you do that?", but after reading your question and what has happened to you, My first thoughts are that the security of your email account has been compromised. Someone has gotten your password and taken it over . It is a form of identity theft, and you should immediately change all passwords of any other accounts that they might have access to.
