hmmm.. seems had a problem directly on the hardware side of your computer. my only and good recommendations to you is, first, check if your packard bell desktop has or still have a Warranty, if its on warranty, you can go to the service center to check the hardware of your PC. Second, if your computer is Out of Warranty you can check it by your self, open your CPU Drive, clean the dust inside the Hardware then check everything if all the wire's are still INTACT to each other.

On start up the computer fails to respond this has been intermittent but has got steadly worse and now will not come on at all. i do get light on the front and some noise from the computer

well seems you have problem in bias.. or in start up of operating system, i recommend you first you try to start operating system in safe mode if possible otherwise you can also re install or say repair your operating system, this will solve your problem. and if still you facing problem after doing so then problem should be in your hardware so after that you need to assist your hardware engineer.

IS MY PC WIRELESS ENABLED? I JUST BOUGHT A PACKARD BELL UTOW-SAN, HOW DO I FIND OUT IF ITS WIRELESS ENABLED AS MY ROUTER IS WIRELESS. IF NOT WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE IT WIRELESS ENABLED?

You can check your pc if its wireless enabled if you have a wireless adapter installed on your system with the necessary drivers, if you dont have the device, then you have to purchase a wireless adapter from the computer shop and install its device driver in order for it to work. If you have a hardware and have the driver installed, you go to control panel and network connections if you have windows xp, you should configure it to get ip from your router in order for you to get connected to your wireless router, and also you make sure that wireless is enabled on your router when you configure it.

Ubuntu requires high graphic memory on your computer. It could install on some components but it doesn't work on whole installation process. If you are having a desktop machine, add graphic/video card to the motherboard so that Ubuntu will finally be installed in your computer.

Thanks

try restoring it to an earlier setting when you know it was working.

Turn on your computer and as it is starting continuously press F8 until you here a beep this will/should start your computer in safe mode. Everything will look big on your screen, ignore that for now. Go to Start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a date when you know that your computer was working with no problems. Once it has completed the restore it will restart your computer. If asked what mode you want to boot in press 'start windows normally'.
Hopefully this will resolve your problem.
I hope this helps

Re-install window xp on laptop and the sound device is missing

You'll need to install the driver for that particular sound device - Windows doesn't have drivers for every single piece of hardware ever made. (You can probably download it from the site of the sound device manufacturer, or the site of the computer manufacturer.)

Cant get vista off my pakardbell i media x2414 i would like to put xp on it

Dear Sir.

In order to get xp on your computer.

You need to install windows xp by formating your computer by using the windows xp operating system cd.

If your computer comes vista installed on that you need to get xp cd from your packerd bell support.
