Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Finished copies on my Brother MFC-9700 not feeding through completely, stalling about a half-inch from the point where they trip the relay. Next sheet, of course, jams.

Appreciate your advice. I think my ancient printer has finally bit the dust. I tried the power recycle and the Print Spooler shutdown, but neither affects the problem, which takes place both when I print a document from the computer and when I use the MFC as a copier. It's clearly a physical problem, not a driver problem, as you predicted, and it's time to swap out the old guy.

    Again, many thanks!

Here are the things that you need to do:

1. Power cycle the printer - disconnect the printer from the computer and from the wall socket for 5 minutes. Then plug it back in.

2. Restart the Print Spooler - click Start > Run or Search > type "services.msc" (without quotes) > hit Enter.

- Locate and click the Print Spooler > click "Stop the service", then after 15 seconds, click on "Restart the service".

3. If same problem occur, uninstall and reinstall the printer driver. Might as well, install the printer into different computer to see if it will do the same thing.

4. If same problem on different computer, you need to contact the manufacturer and have them check if there's a hardware problem on the printer.

Thank you and good luck!

How to photocopy?

Unfortunately, the Brother 9700 is not a "duplex" printer, meaning is does not print/scan/copy both sides of the paper. There is no way to solve this problem, other than to buy a new, duplex printer. Sorry!

Brother MFC 9700

Remove your drum unit and you will see on top of where the drum unit sits inside your machine is a piece of glass(inside the machine). Wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth. If this do not work, remove your toner cartridge and see if the toner is spread evenly on the cartridge.
