Printer doesn't recognise CD-R tray - tray is placed F side up with writable disc correctly placed on tray. Have printed on discs previously - refuses to do it now!!

Reset settings - made no difference.
Error no 1001 - however tray is placed as I have previously to print, and disc same brand as previously used.
Tray is to print on CD / DVD

  • hookings Apr 25, 2010

I have tried resetting settings on the printer,
Displays error 1001 - however the printer CD tray is inserted the same as previously inserted when it did print, and the DVD that I wish to print on is the same brand as previously printed on.
this has all happened since I updated the Printer driver - not sure if it has anything to do with that.

  • hookings Apr 25, 2010

None of this worked!! Is it time to get rid of the printer? It still prints paper fine - just frustrating it doesn't do the extras it is supposed to do!

Error message on the printer states There is no CD-R tray. Attache the tray and press OK
Error message on the computer states - Error Number : 1001 The CD-R Tray is not inserted or a printable disc is not placed on the CD-R Tray. Load a printable disc on the CD-R Tray, insert the tray along the Guide rail, and then press the OK button on the printer. Printing will restart.

If the tray isn't far enough in - then it doesnt draw it in - if it is at the arrows - draws it in a bit - then spits it back half of what it had drawn in and then gives up!!

No - no longer under warranty - so probably cost more to repair than replace!

The printer has to be disassembled and have to be verified whether the plugs are all the way in. Is the printer under warranty?

No this I would say is a rather cost effective repair. More so if there is a service center in your area as you can save the shipping charges by taking it to the service center yourself. Get me your zip code so that I can see if I can find one in your area.

If you insert the disk tray and push it in, the printer will **** it up and eject it out again then give you error 1001 (no tray or disk). After clicking PRINT in cd label print wait until the screen tells you to insert the tray otherwise it will reject the tray because it?s not ready for it yet. OR Load a printable disc on the CD-R Tray, insert the tray along the Guide rail but don't push it in, and then press the OK button on the printer. Printing will restart. If the above doesn't work, try uninstalling the driver using the uninstall on Canon program files then reinstall the driver and software.

Try the following:
1. check cleaness inside tray.
2. have you tried to power-cicle the device?
3. reset your printer following this procedure:
a. press home
b. select settings icon, hit ok
c. select device settings, hit ok
d. select reset setting, hit ok, hit yes, then ok

do you have any errors by any chance?
does it print to regular paper? I coudn't find any info about the cd-r tray that you are referring please clarify what print media is the one you are trying to use.

the following guide has probably being supplied by someone else but given the new info I thought I would post it here as it may give you some info on how to properly attach the cd tray to ensure that it's done properly:

How do I remove the print head from my Canon MP810 printer for a clean? :o)

I just replaced my MP810 printer head. Procedure: open printer - remove ink cartridges - Pick up arm located on right side of cartridge holder- remove printer head by picking up by the cartridge slots. Place new printer head in holder - replace printer cartridges - press arm down and your done....However, the error message stays on and reset procedure doesn't remove it. Canon tech support said their solution (because of distance from canon support) is to replace MP810 with comparable printer, which came to $299 with 15% discount and free shipping. My solution, I’m checking out other printers.

Cd label will not open

I am assuming that the packing tape is still on the printer. lift the printer cover so you can see the ink tanks. there may be some tape holding the CD tray insert in place while it was in transport.if not then try and see what is blocking the tray insert.

MP810 error 6B00

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Canon MP810-CD-R Tray loading-printing problem

I read on another site that you must wait until prompted on the screen to put the tray into position. Opening the inner door and loading the tray before asked to and then pressing OK was the key to fixing the problem on the MP830.
It's the simple things that always get you into trouble, I guess.

How do I resolve Error U150 on Canon MP810?

have had a MP810 about 3 months. Recently I've been getting a U150 error message. My C tank is not lighting up and being recognised. When I open up and replace the tank the light comes on. Initially this allowed me to carry on printing but now I have a constant error message even after replacing the tank.
Is there a permanent solution to this annoying problem?
I would be grateful for any assistance.

Cd tray error Canon Pixma MP810

Sorry a little late only just read your problem.
The location is not the bottom tray feeder but the disk tray. In settings change your media type to "Printable Disk" the paper scource should automatically change to "Disk Tray" and hopefully every thing will work OK.

Trying to print onto cd-r

I got this model for Xmas & spent over 2 hours with the same problem. How can you close inner tray when you're only supposed to push the tray half way in for printing onto disc? It doesn't make sense, it's a contradiction and the manual doesn't give any explanation, An absolute piece of Junk! It's going to be 'dumped' back to the retailer tomorrow! I've never had such crap!
