Will not pump out water

After the wash cycle is complete the machine starts to drain but then stops after approximately ten seconds. If I turn the machine off for four to five minutes and restart it at the point where it is supposed to drain it begins to drain again but again it only lasts for about ten seconds. etc etc. I have replaced the diverter valve so I am now stumped.

Washing machine wont complete drainage at end of wash cycle

Look under the washer tub where the drain hose comes out and attaches to the pump. Your pump impeller is either clogged or worn out. Try removing the pump and checking from there.

Washer (total care system) is making a humming noise even though I've taken all the clothes out of it. The agitator works, but there's a humming noise. I've stopped it and re-started it, but...

Hi

1 of 2 things could be the trouble.

Does the washer drain properly if you manually turn the control knob? If not then this sounds like your pump is either plugged with possible lint and can't move or has died completely. 99% chance pump is the problem and 99% chance it can be an easy fix by cleaning the pump where the Drain Line is attached, worst case scenario pump is to be replaced, but not a overall expensive fix and most can do it without a technician.

Second problem is possibly the time itself, but if the washer is going through all cycles except spin then pump is likely the culprit, cause in spin cycle the machine has to drain the water from the unit as it spins, if it cannot the washing machine basically stops and cannot complete the cycle.

One way to tell for sure if the pump is the problem. When the machine enters the spin cycle and starts making that noise. Manually turn the dial a little bit till it passes the spin cycle, if it continues to wash till it hits the final spin/drain cycle then stops again...your pump is in need of help.

What is the best way to winterize a standard large capacity washing machine?

If the product will be exposed to sub-freezing temperatures, turn off the water supply to washer, disconnect fill hoses, drain them and reconnect. Remove the drain hose from the standpipe in the wall and place it into a shallow pan at floor level untill the water floe stops. Unplug unit and you are good to go.

If no sub-freezing temps are expected, turn off water supply. Turn on washer for a warm wash cycle for a few seconds to relieve the pressure in the hoses. Turn off machine and unplug it.
