Check for bent blade against deck housing.Possible you bent something on mowing deck, check all spindles and pulleys. You could have something hung on blade and making contact with deck. Rarely will the motor be hurt from hitting object on rider.

The lever to engage the blades on my Cub Cadet rider LTX 1042 KW has no resistance the the blades do not engage. Did a part possibly break off or come loose?

The blades are engaged electrically via the PTO on the engine shaft.
Check the connector and wiring to the PTO unit, or the electrical plug on the engage switch.

My cub cadet i1042 drive shaft won't engage ... The clutch or coupler is bad ???

hello reut... most of the cub cadets have a hydrostatic transmission. that said, keeping the transmission fluid full is key to good operation. Check the tranny fluid and add as much as you need to bring it to spot on full. joe

I have a 1500 series Cub Cadet, 54 inch cut. I ran over a rope that wrapped around the blades shutting down the mower. I turned the mower off and removed the rope. I engage the PTO. I hear it click but...

put the rope back around the blades then go in reverse slowly, park the tractor where you found it prior to running the rope over, get off, shake your head a few times, then try it again, this time pick the rope up first! that should fix ya!

Cub Cadet 2166 series. Mower will not engage.

Unfortunately, the circuit is a little complicated - it involves the "PTO switch" (the switch you pull on to engage the mower), a "reverse switch" that senses if you've put the mower in reverse, and a relay operated by the reverse switch. The reverse switch is there to disengage the blades if you try to reverse while mowing. A failure in any of those items, or the connectors and wiring between them, will prevent the blades from engaging. Unless you want to "shotgun it" and replace parts one-by-one on a guess (which many repairmen to do save time, but at your expense) you need to use an ohmmeter or test light to trace and isolate where the failure is.

Cub cadet rzt 50, hit stump, blades wont engage but not bent

The blades on this cub cadet are activated with air pressure. Chances are that when you hit that stump, you either blew a fuse or the control module that allows the blades to spin. Begin by checking the fuses. J.

Cub Cadet-Blades won't stay engaged

sounds like either a saftey switch problem or a bad drive clutch on the pto. usuallly the mower shuts down, not the blades, they may have changed this though. my best guess would be a safety sensor try calling your local cub dealer and talking to the repair person he can shed light on the problem.
