Question about Televison & Video
Hi Debbie. As you may know, this regionalization of dvd's was put in place by the industry to prevent pirating.
The regions are broken down as follow:
Region 1 - The U.S., U.S. territories and Canada
Region 2 - Europe, Japan, the Middle East, Egypt, South Africa, Greenland
Region 3 - Taiwan, Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong
Region 4 - Mexico, South America, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Caribbean
Region 5 - Russia (okay, former Russia), Eastern Europe, India, most of Africa, North Korea, Mongolia
Region 6 - China
That said, it is possible to rip and burn your dvd to make it play on your player but the procedure is a wee bit laborious and technical. If you want to pursue that route call a few local computer repair shops and have a techie assist you. Joe

The reason this is happening is because you player is setup for strictly one region only. This relates to the distribution system used for release of DVD to the world market. This is for various reasons, but mostly to allow for the Movie moguls to have different release dates about the world for new movies. Your player will be coded for the country in which you purchased it. I am not sure what country you are in, but you can find the area code from here. Whilst it is not strictly illegal to modify your player to play another(usually 0 = ALL) codes, it is what we call a Hack. Now if you are into Hacking your player, there is generally someone in the world that knows how to do it, or for a price will give you the information to do it. I searched briefly for this information for you,. but came up empty handed for your particular model. Being a new model, it may be a while before someone comes up with it. In some instances, a Sony Service agent may be able to do the hack for you to recode the players area, but this you would need to speak to them about. If you want me to keep looking for a hack, let me know. Happy to keep talking to you about it. regards robotek

Go to the following website and follow the instructions on how to hack your player to play all regions for all time:
If that is more than you want to do your manual will tell you how to change your player to Region 2. Most players will allow you to do this at least 2-3 times.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
