Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Maytag electric dryer model DE410' Dryer motor runs normally and freely; N0 HEAT is produced by the dryer element. electric heat element presumably is not working. Cold air is emitted from the exhaust. Thus clothes do not dry. I checked continuity of the element by checking the two leads/contacts of the heating coil. Continuity exists. Thus I believe the element is not burned out. There are three round, one inch diameter "relays" with two contacts each, visable in the cabinet. At least one has the nomenclature "purple" along with some part numbers. two are located in the lower front area of the cabinet. One is located on the housing of the dryer element and connected to the power leads of the element. Can you advise about getting element to work?

Check all of those "relays", htey are thermostats, monitoring you temps, they should all have continuity through them if not its bad. (temp jump it out) just to see the element glow. TEMPORARIly.. you CANNOT leave any jumped out you will damaged something. HOUSE FIRE. just wanted to instill the importance of not leaving jumped out

Not getting hot

  1. There are a number of different problems which can occur with models of Maytag dryers resulting in them not heating and drying clothes properly. A variety of parts could have broken or been worn out over the course of the time you have been using your dryer or something could just malfunction, as appliances tend to do from time to time. Check warranty information before trying to repair the Maytag dryer yourself.
  2. Most clothing dryers heat up and dry clothes with a heating element inside the appliance's body. Maytag dryers are no different and sometimes these heating elements break down or burn out, making the dryer cease to get hot. Make sure the dryer is unplugged and the breakers that run the dryer are switched off before inspecting so you don't electrocute yourself. The heating element is in the bottom panel of the dryer and is often a silver part which heats up when the dryer is on. Sometimes the heating element will be cracked or burned out, which means it is broken. Other times it won't look damaged but may not be working. Replace the heating element if this occurs, to see if this is the main problem.
  3. Maytag dryers have motors which turn the dryer drum, tossing the clothes so that air and heat can help dry them out completely. When the dryer drum is not turning it means there is something wrong with the motor or that the motor is not getting power. Unplug the dryer and take it apart to inspect the motor. Once you have found the motor, plug the dryer back in and use a meter to see if the motor is getting power. If it is, and isn't working, then there is something wrong with the motor and how it is operating. If the motor isn't getting power, then there is something wrong with the circuits or fuses which disperse power to the motor itse
  4. When Maytag dryers won't tumble or heat the clothes which have been put inside of them, this means there could be a number of different things wrong. However, sometimes there's a simple solution to this problem: The switch on the door of the dryer itself may be faulty or not making the electric connection it should to allow the dryer to run. This is a cheap fix and worth troubleshooting before tearing your Maytag dryer apart. Remove the switch and inspect the two leads to make sure they haven't broken or are still transferring electricity. If they aren't you will have to replace the switch.

My dryer won't heat. Maytag DE410

Hi,

Make sure front of dryer is not blocked, air flow is needed to dry.Check that the lint filter and exhaust duct is clean.

Check the blown fuses and home’s circuit breaker tripped. Dryer use 2 household Fuses or a circuit breakers, If one is blown, the dryer may still operate but not heat. Alternatively, the dryer may heat, but it may not heat up as hot as it should. Replace the Fuses or reset the circuit breaker.

Another common cause of a dryer failing to heat is a faulty Heating Element. You will need to replace it.
Good Luck and have a nice day. Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Clothes dryer not producing heat

Check voltage at the receptacle first. The motor and timer operate on 120VAC. The heating element requires 208/240VAC to operate. Remove power from the unit. You can check the heating element, thermostats and thermal fuses using an ohm meter across each components terminals with one wire removed. The thermal fuses and thermostats should read zero ohms. The heating element will read low ohms (20 to 40). Successful heater operation still depends on the motor centrifugal switch being closed. Depending on the model, you need the heat circuit in the timer or electronic control to be closed.
I hope this helps you.

Very simple. Remove screws at the base and the front panel. The heater is on the bottom easily accessed. The re-string kit is way cheaper than the "mailbox" Start here:
