Princeton Monitor VL1917 - No Power

I have a Princeton VL1917 monitor. I hadn't used it for a while and now I want to sell it to a friend, but the power light doesn't come on. The AC adapter has a green led on it and that turns on, but the green led light on the monitor doesn't turn on. Hoping it's a quick fix.... thanks.

This is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. After you turned your pc on, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. This is because of the lamps inside screen. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so. Hope this help!! If anything I can help you with, feel free to let me know.
Thank you,

Princeton Digital VL1917 Monitor no power no display

Very common problem, look for bad caps with leaking/bulging tops as shown in my pictures:

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Sounds like the monitor took a power surge. Monitor is probably bad but try hooking up the power to the monitor on a different power outlet and see if it turns on, if not then the monitor is bad and would need to be replaced.

No volume

Hello,
Being a person with some experience repairing Princeton Monitors... 776 so far.
If you have not had volume from the monitor right out of the box It would appear the speaker connector was not install or fell off due to poor installation at the factory.
Princeton Monitors have a lot of problems. when they work, they work well.
They are known for their very bad capacitors in the inverterboards.
If the unit runs but you have no green light and no picture Your Caps are toast.
As for your speakers, remove the front bezzel and look for the twisted wires usually black and red with a small white connector. If you find it just danggling, the connector it should go into is on the right lower side of the monitor's screen. It's keyed so installing it only one way will make it work.
Hope this helps.

Princeton CD770MCN 17 driver and or setup program

My only suggestion: responsibly recycle that 17-inch CRT, and buy a used 17-inch LCD; around here, the local "government surplus" store is selling 3-year-old 17-inch LCDs for $50, plus taxes.

If it was a "plug-and-play" monitor, then there was _NO_ need for any "drivers" at all, because the monitor would identify which combinations of horizontal/vertical pixels and refresh-rates that it would support.
