Ink jets usually have waste ink pads. They are small rectangles at the bottom of the printer that can be hard to reach. If you can get them out, rinse them clean and reinstall them when they are dry. Then you need to reset the waste ink counter. Do not reset the counter without cleaning or replacing the pads - ink will smear everywhere when the pads are full.

1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the
function listed in the table below.(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in
orange and green, starting with orange.)note: press 4 times for waste ink counter reset.

The number of the Reset button pressing
LED Function Remarks
0 time Green Power off
1 time Orange Service pattern print
2 times Green EEPROM print
3 times Orange EEPROM reset
4 times Green Waste ink counter reset
5 Turn off the printer.( it must be turn off)and then turn it on again.

I hope this helps. The waste ink pads are really designed to last the expected lifetime of the printer, so additional failures may be coming.

Check your MP150 owners manual :)
It is called the 'Waste Ink Absorber' and is used to clean the cartridges. Cannon says to call their service department for help replacing it.

Take the printer to a qualified technician, to empty the "waste-ink" container, and to reset the printer to "0%-full".

Received message ''the waste ink absorber is full'' What can I do?

You will have to replace the waste ink pads. There should be two of them on the right under the print head in rubber containers. It could be a messy job though. I think the pads on that printer has a metallic strip for detecting full condition. So you can't reuse the pads even if you clean them up.
