Question about Kenmore Dishwashers

Kenmore dishwasher water will not stay in there

Kenmore 16761 untrawash dishwasher water will not stay in there.
At first I thought no water was going into it. Heater element was hot but I could hear no water washing around.
I tried again and when I open door quickly I do see water going into bottom but it drains away in seconds. So it appears it is not holding water for the wash cycle.

It sounds like you have a drain hose problem. The drain hose needs to have a rise in it. If it is going down hill or to a drain that is lower than the tub it can drain as fast as it fills.

I think that the valve assembly in the end of your attachment hose is having problems, check with Kenmore and see if a replacement one is available and if your dishwasher is new enough perhaps it might be under warranty?

Hello, I recently installed a new faucet in our kitchen, hence turning the water. Not aware that my wife tried to wash dishes in the dishwasher before i turned the water back on, i think she damaged our...

Without a brand and model number, here is my best thoughts on what to check;
1) Was the shut off valve for water going to the dishwasher turned on after new faucet install? Is it turned on now?
2) Is water getting to the dishwasher water inlet control valve?
3) If water is getting to the water inlet control valve, unplug the dishwasher and check the solenoid to see if it is shorted. Unplug the solenoid. Using an ohm meter, check for 500-1000 ohms resistance. If there is no resistance, it is most likely shorted and needs to be replaced.

We have a 10 year old Kenmore model 665.15892100. It counts down from 96 to 76 & stays there. It will not go to 75 &/or the next cycle. Also, we need a manual. Please help! E-mail is...

You can view a manual for your dishwasher at this site.

Most likely the water heater is faulty. Have you tried to operate in a shorter cycle which does not need hot water.

You can check the location of heater in these diagrams.

Hope this helps.

The water pipes rattle violently in the beginning of the cycle.

My Kenmore 16464 dishwasher caused a buzz in the water pipes at the start of the cycle that I thought was just water hammer. It turned out to be a bad water inlet valve on the dishwasher that has water hoses (inlet and outlet) attached plus has an electrical connector. It is located near the front left underneath the tub. I pulled the dishwaher out and replaced it and all is quiet again. - Jim

Dishwasher will not fill

The most likely culprit in a "no fill" scenario (especially after you've replaced the valve) is the Overflow preventer. It's designed to kill power to the valve if the water level gets too high. It does this by floating up as the water level rises.
Open the dishwasher door and remove the lower rack. You'll see it in the tub on the left side (the round thing that looks like a little hat). If it's stuck in the up (overflow) position, you won't get water. Raise and lower this device a few times... you should hear the "click click click" of the kill switch. Now just make sure it's in full down (ready for water) position and fire up the dishwasher. You should get water now.

If this helped, please rate this solution as "FixYa". BUT if this didn't fix the problem, don't rate it just yet. Write back and we'll go a little deeper into a diagnosis, OK?

Dishes not rinsing well,

I would check the bottom drain area. Sometimes food can stay down there and block the drain or get back around onto the next load.

First, turn the unit off at the breaker. Wait 5 minutes. Turn back on. That may reset everything. If not, we need to find out more about the code and what else is going on.
