Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook

1 Answer

I just bought a monitor to add to my Dell Inspiron 1501, and hooked itup - it recognized the new monitor and resized the display automatically, but now, every time I try to close the notebook, it turns the computer off. Is there a way to disable this feature?

Your power settings must have gotten changed. You have to go to the control panel, power options, click on the advanced tab and there should be an option asking "when I close the lid on my portable computer:" There should be a selection list for you to choose from.

I bought a new dell charger and it's not being recognized. It's a PA-12 family charger and in the list is supposed to work with my 1501 Inspiron. Tried bios update.Microsoft ACPI is 6.0.6 already to.

Check in BIOS and see whether its recognised there..If its not, it could be the Motherboard which is the culprit here...if system is Out of Warranty, and its charging, then forget the recognising issue...other Contact Dell's Out Of warranty for repair options.Would suggest using Dell spares for the system than going with other 3rd party supported adaptors

Dell Inspiron 1501 screen is blank

yeah look on the keyboard for something that looks like two monitors on the F-key row. It might even say LCD on it. Hold down the Fn key and push the F-key that has the pic.

You should have the other monitor hooked up because what you are changing is the display modes. To switch modes you hold down the Fn key and tap the F-key with the pic. Let me know if anything happens.

Dell Laptop E1705 Screen goes Blank

If your video output works fine when connected to an external monitor, then the issue is with the LCD display panel. I’m afraid the only way to fix this is have the LCD panel replaced. The ribbon cable that plugs the LCD panel into the motherboard could also be the culprit. Here's a link to the display assembly for 1501: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1501/en/sm_en/display.htm#wp1022270

Dell 1501 Laptop- 2 inch vertical bar on screen

The easiest thing to try would be rolling back the video driver. Go to Start>right click my computer>click properties>click hardware>click device manager>click on the + next to display adaptor>right click on your adaptor>click on properties>click on the driver tab. Then click on roll back driver and follow directions. If this solves your problem please rate this as fixed. If not, don't rate and add a comment letting me know what happened. I'll always be glad to help you further. Thanks.
