You can obtain drivers from Lexmark's download site. Following this link and then enter X1270 into the search. Click the download tab and then choose the driver for your operating system.
Go to this website. You will need to select your zone and country and then you will put yourt model number (X1270) into the search. You will then be able to selct your operating system and download your software and driver.
The only way to setup the printer without the proper drivers would be to use windows add new printer. However windows does not have lexmark x1270 listed. You can dlownload the software from lexmark & install the software / drivers without using the cd. http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:537:0:0
You need to choose your version of windows to continue.
