Just do a FREE download... Gosh, I think we are at version 9 now... I am surprised the old version still works at all.

SOURCE: Got window that said update Adobe. Ran it and

This depends on your operating system. you may need to upgrade to service pack 2 or 3 if you have a microsoft operating system such as windows xp,vista. go to www.microsoft.com and search for service pack 2 or 3. You can download it there. or click on the start in the bottom left corner of the screen, click on control panel then click on security, click on updates and click install updates. Your system could be slightly different from these steps, but should be close enough so you can do this.

Disable pdf viewer

Google Chrome contains an integrated PDF viewer, which may have problems displaying some Portable Document Format files. You can bypass or disable this PDF viewer to get around display problems with your PDF documents by viewing them with Adobe Reader. If the Adobe Reader plug-in isn't working properly, it may be incorrectly configured or its files may be corrupt.

Integrated PDF When you click a link to a PDF link on a Web page, Google Chrome opens the PDF in its integrated PDF viewer instead of the Adobe Reader plug-in. Chrome's PDF viewer doesn't contain many advanced features, so you can click "Yes" to the "Parts of this PDF document could not be displayed. Open in Adobe Reader?" bar that appears at the top of the PDF document to view it in Adobe Reader. b> Disabling Integrated PDF b> If you frequently open PDF documents that Google Chrome has problems displaying, you can disable the integrated PDF viewer to bypass it and always open PDFs with Adobe Reader. Type "About:plugins" into Google Chrome's address bar and press "Enter" to open the plug-ins management page. Click the "Disable" link under Chrome PDF Viewer on the plug-ins page to disable it. b> Updates b> Problems with PDF display may be fixed in newer versions of Google Chrome or Adobe Reader. You can check for updates to Google Chrome by clicking the wrench menu, and selecting "About Google Chrome." Chrome checks for new versions and displays version information at the bottom of the About window. You can update Adobe Reader by clicking "Start," selecting "All Programs," clicking the "Adobe Reader" shortcut, clicking the "Help" menu at the top of the Adobe Reader window and selecting "Check for Updates." b> Reader Settings b> Adobe Reader only displays PDFs in Google Chrome and other Web browsers if the Display PDF in Browser option is enabled. You can enable it from the preferences window in Adobe Reader. Open it by clicking the "Edit" menu, selecting "Preferences" and clicking the "Internet" category at the left side of the preferences window. Click the "Display PDF in Browser" check box to enable it if it's disabled and click "OK." b> Reader Problems b> Problems displaying PDFs may be caused by having multiple versions of Adobe Reader installed. Examine your list of installed programs and uninstall old versions of Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat if you have multiple versions installed. Open the Uninstall Programs window by clicking "Start," clicking "Control Panel" and selecting "Uninstall a Program." You can also click the "Help" menu in Adobe Reader and select "Repair Adobe Reader Installation" to repair any problems with your Adobe Reader installation.

I need an owner's manual for my new computer HP Pavilion dm4-2165dx. The product number for the computer is QE375UA#ABA. I have tried downloading it and run into problems with acrobat reader ...

Hi Julie: Manuals for the HP Pavilion dm4-2165dx Entertainment Notebook PC are available from the HP website.

This is not an uncommon problem; have experienced similar problems after running updates of Adobe Reader.

If you are having problams with Adobe Reader opening your documents check to see if you have the most current version. Adobe Reader X is now available on the Adobe website. The HP webpage above has a link to the Adobe download site. If you have had problems after installing the most current version, it is recommended you uninstall Adobe Reader from your computer and then download and install a fresh copy of Adobe Reader X.

Please give an new updated install of Adobe Reader a try. If this does not resolve your problem, please reply with any additional details and will see if I can provide further direction.

Thank you for using FixYa!

When I try to download a PDF this message appears There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/reader. If it is running, exit and try again. (1041:1014)

Sounds like there is some corruption either in the file you are trying to load, or in the adobe reader application. Just click here and scroll down the page and click to download the new free reader. should solve your problem.

If updating the reader does not work, then I would suspect the pdf file you are trying to load is corrupt.

I get a notice to update Adobe reader. However the updatw will not install and I get a notice to go to Adobe repair error 1500. Help

I wouldn't bother with the repair functions. It will be quicker to uninstall the reader completely, and go to Adobe site, download and install the latest version.
When uninstalling, make sure you uninstall the Adobe Download Manager as well, so you'll get a new version installed together with the reader.

Good luck, and please come back with a rating/testimonial if helped :)

Adobe reader repair was recommended in a simple update procedure....never before happened

If all you need is a PDF reader and you don't want the associated annoyances and problems that Ad0be is burdened with, download Foxit Reader via this link: -

It's free and does a great job. Then simply uninstall this oversized problematic Ad0be Acr0bat reader.

Completely uninstall Adobe Reader and download the full version Adobe's website. It sounds like one of the files is corrupt. Uninstalling it first should allow you to bypass the problem and install the latest version.
