Of course check the settings in the virtual mixer that the line in is not muted and volume is up.

REMEMBER that the line in on a lot of the machines is a low impedance input and MAY require more to drive it than some devices will deliver.

The input levels of the left and right microphones are highly inequal, what can I do?

perhaps the left speaker is damaged
what i would do is load a known mp3 too the sdcard
and play it back on your unit

if its aok level wise
then the left mic has an issue
try an external input too the left mic
if it again records bad there is an issue with the input amp and alc circuit
if it records ok chances are the left electret mic has failed and will need replaced out usually these small mics have an amp built in then this output goes at line level to the input switched between line level in mic in or internal mic in as a mix....

When I blow into or talk into the mic, it does not work. When I did the mic test, it does not show any change in color.

I'm sorry to tell you but there honestly isn't a solution that will help you out with this problem. In almost ALL cases, if you have an unresponsive mic when doing a mic test, it usually means that it is broken or unusable. I would call the company of the product and ask if they could possibly repair the item for you.

Mic is unresponsive to low frequencies... i.e. my voice.. if i yell you can hear me but not when im talking normally. is there anyway i can fix my mic without buying new tb?

a simple solution to this would be to just remove the cover for the mic, i had the same problem with mine and it seemed to resolve it instantly! i think the cover is too thick sometimes. hope this helped you out.

have you check which input the system is selected for recording it mite be site for the mic not the line in
check this in xp by going to the mixer

click options
click properties
check the box recording
now it should show the recording sliders (check marke the mark the following boxs to see the sliders)
Line in press ok
Put a check in the Linein slider and make sure it selected and turn erup

i also use wave labs and forge and quick basic test if you can record from the mic then its selected as the input

make sure other inputs are down as you will also get feedback from the builtin mic

G1 laptop - display and mic problem

OK ya have a bad connection problem, I think the wires that go between the case and screen may be damaged or loose? in any event ya gonna haveta take it to a repair shop :( The Mic problem MAY be inter-related.. however until ya fix the screen this is a moot point, no? The Mic problem is probably just an incompatibility problem... not aLL mic's work on all pc's even when they work on others.. Oh say try a USB mic they are great.
