Question about LeapFrog Clickstart My First Computer

Mouse not responding

Mouse has been slugishly working. We tried changing surface we were using the mouse on, no change. We changed the batteries, no change. We opened the cover for the mouse plug into the keyboard and made sure it was securely plugged in now not working at all. We turned it off and on. Still nothing, mouse not responding at all. Suggestions?

I would still try changing the battery. Even if the light in the mouse is still visible, the battery voltage may have dropped.

I took the batteries out and replaced them, now the mouse will not respond. It is an HP PIN 5188-6926

If it worked before you changed the batteries, it should work after changing the batteries.
  • Are they inserted correctly ?
  • Are they new / fresh batteries ?
  • Did you turn the mouse "on" ?
  • Try rebooting you system if the above checks out, so that your system can recognize your mouse

Did you leave it on--maybe the batteries are dead or maybe subconsciously your hand likes the other mouse better? Nonetheless, I'd re-introduce or resynch the mouse and antannae (changing the batteries might not hurt either). Also, if they are similar, make sure that your computer isn't trying to use the other mouse driver to run your primary mouse (depending on your OS, the default mouse should show-up in your Control Panel--hardware devices and make sure that it correlates to the one that you want). Good luck & I hope this works.

New cordless mouse slow to respond to "click": cannot control or direct movement: jerky, sporadic. Is this because I do not use a mouse pad?

mouse pad would help but you may have a virus so go to windows help and support and download the windows defender and run it, there have been a lot of bugs affecting mice lately however do try to use something that has a surface on it that would make the mouse work better if it does work better then buy a mouse pad next if it's still slow you can go to control panel and sped up the mouse and also into tools Internet connections and change the mouse properties there.

Most opticals do not track on smooth white surfaces. It needs textures or color. Try pressing the "CONNECT" button on the bottom of the mouse and on the remote sensor.

PC does not respond to mouse or keyboard

Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it to Reset/Connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly.
If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud

Wireless mouse quits working after a few seconds

Did you replace the batteries? This sounds like it may be the problem. A year is a lomg time for batteries depending on how often you use the computer.
After changing the batteries, you may have to do this:
Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it. This should connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly. If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the button on the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud
