Roper Dryer, electric - Problem began with timer not stopping cycle, then dryer stopped. Will not start. Hotwired door switch and On/Off switch, still did not work. Checked temperature sensor on exhaust and current meter showed current running thru sensor. No current thru On/Off switch. Could it be the original problem - timer switch bad?

SOURCE: roper dryer won't heat

first thing is check the voltage between the black and red terminals at the back of the dryer. you should read 240v. then check the voltage between the balck and the white and the red and the white. there should be 120v at each. if all that is good remove the back of the dryer. make sure you unplug it first. then no the lower right you will see the heater. near the top of the heater you will see a red wire and a red/with a white stripe wire attached to the high limit cutout. remove one wier and check the switch for continuity. if you read nothing its bad and thats why there is o heat. Ifnit checks good replace the wire and then remove one red wire from the heater. then check the heater with your meter. most times on the whirlpool products its one of the two that is bad. check the two thing I described and if you still need help feel free to get back to me and we can go from there.Good luck

SOURCE: Roper Electric Dryer Heats but drum won't spin

Yank the filter out the top. Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing. Use a putty knife to pop the top and then remove the screws holding the front on. NOTE: raise up on the front panel slightly so you won't damage the bottom clips. Get the front out yer way and remove the drum. Clean out the dryer and oil the rollers and idler. Use this handy ROUTING GUIDE to see how to put the belt back.

My Roper Dryer stopped working , what might I check to see what the problem is.

first make sure you have 220 going to the dryer.next put the timer on time cycle.next put your ear up to the timer and see if you hear the timer moter runing.if you do than you have a bad thermal switch.you will nead to remove the back panal and the power cord cover.on the lower left you will see a white plastic switch with two blue wires going to it.this is the thwermal switch,if you use a meter and this switch is open than you nead to replace it

Roper dryer will not start

Did you check where the door closes. There should be an accuatator on the door side that will depress a safety switch inside the housing. Take a flat scerw driver & push the lever in on the switch in the housing once you have set the controls to run. This could be the problem, but there could be other problems, Good luck.

Roper dryer won't shut off

The timer motor isn't moving the timer. You'll need to replace the timer. Turning the timer **** to off should stop the machine.
Exception: If the shutting the door automatically starts the motor, then the start switch/relay is probably shorted.
