Serial number starting with M indicates a Mexi Fender, if thats what you mean. It is a real Fender, it is just made in a plant in Mexico for much cheaper, and sold for much cheaper. I've played some Mexican Fenders that played better than American, and generally they are all decent, but most of the time people would rather have the American versions.

Fender Artist Signature Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster US13088442

A new serial numbering scheme was adopted toward the end of 2009 using the number "10" as a prefix, followed by a space, followed by seven digits. The "10" prefix was designed to identify the first year of the second decade of the new millennium, and while it appears on the instrument decals, it was not captured in Fender's operating system. Only the seven-digit suffixes were actually entered into the database. These serial numbers did not identify the country of origin in the body of the number. Instead, the instrument's country of origin appears on the decal on the back of the headstock, near the serial number.

This new numbering scheme was short-lived and was replaced only a few months later by an improved scheme that identifies an instrument's country of origin and year of manufacture in the body of the serial number.

This new scheme uses the letters "US" as a prefix to designate an instrument made in the United States, followed by an eight-digit number. The first two digits of the number identify the year of manufacture, (10 for 2010, 11 for 2011, etc.). The following six digits are the unit identifier, although it should be noted that these final six numbers are not sequential and do not provide any other identification information about the instrument. This new scheme is now used on the majority of U.S.-made Fender instruments, with exceptions including the American Vintage series and certain special-run instruments. Fender strat serial number DZ0067060

Ok, this is going to be a lot of information. Let's start with the "D"; this usually means that the instrument is a "Deluxe" version. This would suggest it is an American Deluxe Strat. But Fender, themselves even admit that this letter ended up on some American Standard instruments. The second letter is EXTREMELY complicated and hard to explain. From the 1970's through recent years, Fender has used an "S", "E", "N", "Z", or "X". Here is the complicated part; "S"eventies, "E"ighties, "N"ineties, "Z" = 2000-2009, "X" = 2010 - present ;). The zero following the number suggests that this is a 2000 American Deluxe Strat. Keeping all of this in mind, there is another slim possibility. Fender has always used bolt on necks. Leo Fender decided to do this for a couple of reasons. They were cheaper to assemble, easier to work on, and easy to replace. Fender produces many replacement necks and they all have serial numbers on them. The previous owner could have potentially replaced the neck on a standard or even a made in Mexico Strat with an American Deluxe neck with a different serial number. I know this is a lot of info and the serial numbers do go more in Depth than just this, but more than likely you have an American Deluxe Strat. Good find!

Want to find out if jazz bass ia a deluxe or standard model

Mexico or "MIM" built Fenders are from Ensenada, Mexico plant.
Deluxe versions usually have active electronics (battery driven) and a few other "luxury" components.

The wrench to adjust the Fender Jazzbass (Mexico) neck does not seem to be allen

it doesn't I think it is stripped if you have tried metric and S.A.E wrenches and nothing works this could be the case and it has stripped but try to look into the opening at the top of the nut with a flashlight if you can see the flats for an allen wrench then it might be still good but a weird size like 4.5mm ex. are you the original owner if not you could have a problem here but you might be able to get the nut out and put a new one in post back I want to check for the wrench size
