Blades won't stop turning

I was backing up and the left rear tire got caught on the fencepipe. Now the mower blades seem to be turning at twice the normal speed and will not fully disengage.

What might have happened?

SOURCE: Craftsman 42" mower deck won't disengage

Try pulling on the cable coming down to deck. This cable might be your problem. Also check that the spring on the end of this cable is present and functional.

Sounds like the shear bolt is broken, Do you have and owners manual to show you the location of shear bolt? They are easily replaced.

SOURCE: mower blades will not disengage

there's a bolt with a shoulder (bolt shoulder) and a cam follower (plastic sheath) down there on an arm assembly, the bolt and sheath on mine worn down so one side was flat,.... it got caught where it was supposed to slide to disengage the blades,... there another bolt just like it on the other arm assembly,. I switched them out because the other one just slides in and out,... so the worn part wouldn't affect the action as much,... works just fine now,....

My rear tires on my husvarna riding mower don't turn. The pull pin that allows me to disengage the wheels don't seem to be working

look under where the pull pin is and be sure it is still attached to the transmission and not damaged. sometimes a small branch can get caught up in there and keep it from unlocking.

Left side is scalping especially when turning

Stephen Bent/damage blade or spindle, check your deck for support link pin missing, damaged or rusted out brackets, blade spindle loose/mount damages or rusted out, missing deck support spring,wheel/roller if equipped, damaged blades, Recheck tire pressure and front steering axles for bent/damage, etc.
When measuring deck for level, measure at blade tips not the deck on a flat level surface. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I have a Toro mower made in 5/09 self propel system it grinds when you pull it in reverse. The selp propel is not working. The belt is on. and it seems to be only the left rear wheel? The cable is not...

Yes it is the transmission. A Mower shop will charge you about $225 to fix.. I order parts online and fixed mine for $90. Transmission consist of 3 gears which turns the rear wheels to self-propel.

Reset tire monitor on 2009 escalade

Hopefully you still have you manual. I will tell you how to reset the HHR, I found it in my manual. Turn the key to on, press lock and unlock at the same time on your key fob. The horn will beep twice telling you that you are in program mode. The left front turn signal light will come on, press the valve core letting air out of the left front tire. The horn will beep when left front is programmed. Then the right front turn signal will come on, let air out till horn beeps. Then right rear, same procedure then left rear same procedure. When that is done horn will beep twice again saying tire program is complete. Turn key off, make sure you air all tires back up.

Model RZT42. When you back up the blades shut and when I go back to forward, the blades will not engage.

Some of the newer riding mowers have a safety system on them that won't let the blades work while you are backing up. If the blades are engaged and you put it in reverse they will stop. You usually have to reset the blades, turn them off then back on, when you put it back in forward.

One side of the tractor is cutting higher than the other

Make sure you don't have a flat tire, first. If tires are OK, the mower deck may need to be leveled. Look at the arms that suspend the deck under the belly of the tractor. Make sure there isn't a branch or something caught in the mechanism, keeping the deck from hanging down where it should. If all that is OK, then the deck must be re-leveled. Park on pavement. Find the nuts on the suspension arms that can be loosened up, turned to a different position, then retightened. Use a ruler or a mark on a block of wood to ensure the left blade tip is the same distance from the ground as the right blade tip.

My deck cuts shoter on the rt,ie uneven

Check your tire pressures:
10 psi. for rear tires.
14 psi. for the front.

Note that according to MTD:
Making sharp right hand turns. Twin-blade mower decks are designed with the discharge on the right side and two side-by-side blades. The side-by-side twin blade decks have the left hand blade positioned slightly forward and in front of the right blade. This provides cutting overlap when traveling in a straight line. As a result, the tractor should mainly operated making primarily left hand turns when cutting. During left turns this cutting overlap is maintained. If turning right when, it is possible to negate this overlap and leave an uncut strip.
