I have a hot point refrigerator. The fan in the freezer keeps shutting off. I can restart it manually but it continues to shut off every few hours. I have already replaced the fan motor. Any ideas on the...

With HSS being the beginning of your model number , the freezer fan gets it's power from the main control board . It runs off approx 6-9 volts DC . Replaceing this board , located behind the refrig , behind an 8X10" panel , will solve the problem . The part number for the board , is WR55X10942 . It is easily replaceable .
I have no idea what the other expert is saying .

HOT POINT FRIDGE - FREEZER DRIPS WATER

The evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help. Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the back of the freezer.

Older hotpoint top freezer freezer working fridge not

When the freezer is working and the fresh food section is warm this usually means a problem with the air flow. All the cooling comes from the freezer there is a fan in the freezer that blows air into the bottom. Check to see if it is working. Also Check if there is an accumulation of frost on the back of the freezer. If there is you have a defrost problem and will have to figure out why it is not defrosting. Hotpoint had a lot of trouble with the defrost heater burning up. It is at the bottom under the evaporator coils. Check it for continuity. There is also a thermostat clipped on to the evaporator that can be faulty as well.

Is there anything else that makes you think this is a problem.

Freezer fan not running

Often times the defrost termination switch (which opens when it gets warm enough) will hold the fan off until it closes again when the freezer runs. It is possible that the switch is not closing, but be sure the freezer is getting cold enough for it to close.

You know the freezer is likely cold enough when you see frost covering the entire evaporator coil after a few hours of operation. A partial frost pattern could indicate low refrigerant, or a restriction of refrigerant.

Freezer not freezing

when the freezer is not freezing, check the fan and fan motor in the freezer section. It should be running when the compressor is running. Check for frost. If you see frost on the rear inside panel, the frost is usually about 3 in. thick on the inside. Check and make sure the fan next to the compressor is running, if your's has one. It will run when the compressor is running. Check for gaps in your door gasket. If there is no frost, both fans are running, compressor is running, and no gaps, and your coils outside the refrigerator are clean, it doesn't sound good.

Hotpoint side by side has recently bugun making a lot of noise

Check for frost in the freezer compartment that may suggest a defrost problem which would cause it to run for extended times and make more noise. The other possibility is that if the fan is making a up and down type of noise, it will need a new fan in the freezer section due to a faulty bearing in the motor.
