HOW to tget to bios acer aspire AST180-ED400A

Immediately after pressing the power up button, start repeatedly pressing F2 while the Acer logo is displaying. The Bios setup screen should appear. If you press F2 too soon, the keyboard may not have initialized yet. If you press it too late, Windows will proceed to launch. Press it once, wait a second, press, it again, wait another second, and repeat this while the Acer logo is displaying until you see the bios setup screen.

This is standard approach with most Acers. That said, some laptops may defer to either Ff being the key to press or CTRL+ALT+EXC. Such would be entered as the above mentioned F2. Your Aspire appears to be a desktop and I suspect F2 will suffice.

How can i have the password bios of laptop dell E6420

f you are running Dell servers, it is recommended to enable BIOS password. This is will prevent accidental changes done to Dell BIOS settings by others who get physical access to the server.

You can setup two different types of passwords in Dell BIOS:

System Password: This will be prompted before the system can boot up, and load the operating system.
Setup password: The system will prompt for this password only when you are trying to access the BIOS settings.

Depending on your situation, it might be a good idea to enable both the system and setup password at the BIOS level. I recommend that you at least enable BIOS password.
Press F2 for System Setup

When the Dell server is booting up, press F2 to start system setup, from where you can change Dell BIOS settings.

BIOS System Security

From the Dell BIOS main menu, scroll down to "System Security" and press enter.

Password Not Enabled

From here, you can see that both the System and Setup password is not enabled by default.

Enable System Password (and Setup Password)

Scroll to "System Password" and press enter, which will prompt you to enter the password that you like to set for the system. Please understand that if you set this password, you have to enter this password everytime you start the system. Do the same thing for Setup Password.

Don't forget this bios password. If you forget, then you have go through the painful process of resetting the Dell BIOS password.
Password is Enabled

Once you've enabled both the password, from the "System Security" menu, you'll see that that both system and setup password is enabled as shown below.

password is set

System Password Prompt (During Startup)

From now-onwards, anytime you start the system, it will not load the operating system, unless you specify the system password as shown below.

Setup Password Prompt (To Access BIOS)

If you press F2, to get to the BIOS, it will prompt for the setup password as shown below. If you don't enter a valid password here, you cannot access the Dell BIOS settings anymore.

Started receiving message "Warning -- Acer eLock activated -- Optical Device Drive Locked".

For that you need to disable lock in bios.
When you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALT+F2 key to enter in bios .
Then you can see bios enter in bios and load optimal defaults.
Then save settings and exit.
If elock is enable then disable.
If you are not able to enter in bios if it ask for password then you need to reset bios.
For that you need to open back cover of laptop then find motherboard and pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes then all settings defaults.
Then check.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Can't remember password

BIOS password remove alternatives:

1. Reset Password BIOS via Backdoor BIOS Password.
2. Reset Password BIOS via Software.
3. Reset Password BIOS via hardware.
4. Reset Password BIOS via default manufacturers.

OK, here is my guide to Remove Acer Bios password computer via Software. This has been done on testing machine Laptop Acer Aspire 3620/ Travel Mate 2420. Anyway, I'm not sure it will work on every Acer PC/Laptop so just consider to do at your own risk, I’m not responsible for any damages caused by this guide.

As we know most of Acer computer (Laptop & Desktop) allow us to setup BIOS in Microsoft Windows (9x/XP/Vista) environment. Great, this is the powerful that help us to remove the BIOS password cuz all we know if we enter Setup Utility at the boot time we have only three times of filling the password and if all wrong then the system will halt.
The program helps us to enter Acer BIOS setup in Microsoft Windows is “Acer eSettings Management” which comes with the CD when we buy Acer PC/Laptop. If you lost the CD then just come to Acer website to download the program.

I have a Dell pc but it won't boot up. When I switch it on a black screen comes up saying No boot device available strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility. When I press f1 the same message comes up,...

you should try a repair to your operating system.
The easies way to do this is to insert the XP disk into the cd/dvd
turn the computer on and select to boot from the cd/dvd player.
when you are asked if you want to run recovery console say no, and at the screen where it ask if you want to install windows tell it yes. at the next screen it will say that if you want to do a repair press r.
Follow the on screen instructions and hopefully it will find you earlier installation of xp.

You can download step by step guides on how to do this from the internet.

Can not get into phoenixbios setup utility

Hi

Is it like when you turn on your computer it asks you for a BIOS password.

You need to open the notebook from the back and locate the small battery which looks like the shape of coin,
After locating it take that battery out and turn on your computer,
Once your computer is fully loaded then turn if Off,
Then put the battery back and turn on your computer
Try to go into BIOS.
I am sure you will be able to go into BIOS.

Please bare with me, as my experience on computers is limited.my friend owns an acer 530 notebook. She would like it to be restored back to factory,I got on the internet and found sketchy instructions on...

Nope. F2 will take you into what is known as the "BIOS". This is an area for changing basic hardware settings, and is not for you. =-]

If you have the recovery CD, it should prompt you to press a key when you first turn the computer on with the CD already inside. That is the standard process for just about every computer, but if for some reason nothing happens (Windows just loads without any prompts beforehand), then you may need to go into the BIOS to check that the CDROM drive is enabled as a possible boot device.

If that is the case, recovering the password is a whole different story, and is sometimes almost impossible on a laptop without specialty equipment.

Start off with the recovery disc, and see if that prompts you when the system is turned on... I suspect that *it* will prompt you to press F12.

And please let us know how that goes, incase I can give other solutions. (depending on where you get stuck)

I have a acer laptop and when i press f2 to go into setup it asks me for a setup password! what is it?

Password was set by the last person who setup Bios. The only way to delete password is to disconnect battery, or even internal battery to clear the memory.

I have an old Acer ferrari 3000 series laptop. My 3 yr old nephew was playing with it now everytime i start up it ask for a hard drive password. Dont have a clue what it could be. Also when i press F2 to...

if u don't know the password for the hard drive, u won;t be able to use it !!! U can try to mount that drive to another laptop/computer and than force it to lose the password encryption (u'll need special software and advanced knoledge...). The other option is to send it to the producer (acer) and let them do the job.(expensive !!!)
As for the password that is requested when u press F2, is the BIOS password, and u can get ride of it easily by reseting the BIOS.(u should find info for this in the computers manual)(note: this involves opening the computer case ...)

And ofecourse there is the option where u can try all posible combinations for the password .. it shold take just 2000 years ... lol
