Start-> Aceessories->System Tools-> System Restore

Thats the way to make system restore, but before making restore you should must have been made recovery point before. And if you had made, then no prblem it will be listed automatically, use this.

If you want to restore some deleted files which you have accedently deleted permanently, then you can search restore tools on net.

    good that you replied.

ok, since you are unable to do the restore, are you using a desktop or a laptop? because if its a desktop, we can work something like making your disk a slave just in order to recover your files...and after recovering those files, we'll do reformat and install windows again.

    follow up questions.....

do you have another Hard drive installed on your computer? if so, what you can do is install windows XP on that other drive for it to become your primary drive. DONT delete or format your other drive which has your files so that we can retreive those files.

to answer one of your question.

you can only use the restore disk if you had succesfully turned on your system restore on your windows. if it wasnt turned on, it would be a waste to buy it now. restoring would only be successful if there was resotr points made on your computer.

however, there are ways to recover those files even after reformatting your hard drive.

sometimes when you really need to recover your files, you need another drie with an OS to simply look those files and copy them to another drive or flashdrive to have safer ways to save them.

Restore disk has been lost. I need to know how to change bios to allow straight Xp to be installed

This isn't a bios setting, it's a setting that Compaq put somewhere (probably the MBR) of your OS to only allow it's restore discs.
If you want to use straight Windows XP OEM discs, just boot to the disc and you'll be able to install Windows. If that doesn't work, just format your hard drive(you'll lose everything) then boot to the XP and install that way.

I have lost some of the original settings & don't know how to re-set as I don't know how to use original disc as no disc-drive

If you are using Windows XP and are able to go online on your computer, go to http://tinyurl.com/pcrestore and choose to run the file. If the system won't boot up, Press and hold the CTRL key and tap the F11 key repeatedly as soon as you power on the comp (on the Dell logo). Next, click on Restore. This would restore your system to the factory defaults. Please note that this process would destroy any data or settings that you have saved on your system, so ensure that you have proper backup of all your stuff before you try this step. Program which has lost its path.

Hai,

It sounds like you are very much familier with computer and you do not what exactly needs to be done, no problem we are here to help you.
If the problem is not more than 14 days then, I suggest you restore the computer else.
Please uninstall the game or application that you are facing the problem with, if this could not fix the issue then I suggest you format the computer and reinstall the operating system, to reinstall the operating system I will provide you a weblink which has detailed information on installation of XP.

http://www.petri.co.il/install_windows_xp_pro.htm

similarly you can find vista and windows 7 installation guides, please make a note of the steps and perform the installation.

This should fix the issue.
Bye, take care

I HAVE UPGRADED MY PC WITH A 32 BIT WINDOWS 7 DISC DO I NEED TO MAKE A 3 DISC WINDOWS BACK UP AGAIN AS I DID WITH VISTA. IT HAS LET ME MAKE A SYSTEM RECOVERY DISC BUT THIS WAS ONLY A SMALL PROGRAMME FOR...

Yes it is. But it used together with the Windows 7 Backup and Restore Center (Control Panel - Backup and Restore). If you set up the backup setting in this option, make a backup, and create a restore disk you will be able to restore your system in the event of a problem. Please note that it will restore the system as it was on the day you made the backup.

I Need a e-machines restore disc for a T3302 Help Pls

Okay E-Machines was bought out by Gateway. Thru there normal downloads for that model, they don't have a part number for the restore discs.

Best thing to do is to chat with them live thru there link here:

https://support.gateway.com/Support/copilot/en/us/chat_us_em_tech.asp

If you would rather call, here is there phone numbers depending on whether your machine is under warranty or not:

866-586-2237* (under warranty)

877-721-7314* (out of warranty)

They can get you the part number and then you decide whether you want to purchase it from them or do your own search for the cd's cause it maybe cheaper to go with another website that sells restore discs.

I can<t restaure my Windows I lost my back-up

Hi,
First of all, it is never a good idea to post your full name, address or phone number online.

Secondly you will need a system disc to re-install XP pro. You can restore your system to an earlier time by using the system restore feature in xp.

WRONG RESTORE CD IN HP PAVILION A1330N

Alright, if I understand you...You possibly lost the original operating system disc for your HP Pavilion, and your daughter used a Windows XP restore disc, and now it is asking you to register the software?

AND you also lost the set-up software for your Internet provider?
