Canon fs20/fs200: can't get external mic to work, the audio is not being heard in playback. The mic works with other devices but when used with the camera it does not seem to pick up the audio or display it in play back. Help please.

This camera needs an external mic with it's own power supply. (I didn't even know they made those... I'm still looking for one)

Also most external dynamic mics have a 1/4 inch plug and your camera has a 3.5 plug , get an adapter with some length say to reach the floor , I find its a little heavy and actually will mess up your mic jack . I have one of these cameras and play drums along with the stereo. It works well , have fun and good luck

Skype not working

Sir,

Click this link for more information........

Also Check........

On a PC with external speakers and also a headset with microphone. Windows XP is configured so that standard audio are external speakers and standard microphone is the headset. Skype is configured to use the headset for audio in and out.

This way one can listen to sound from the PC and from MP3 players through external speakers and if there is a call to make or take, this is going through the headset.

But now there is the problem that the noise level for the headset is too low. Increasing volume has no effect on the headset, it only affects the external speaker's volume.

Now the solution: Going to the control panel and opening the sound setting, go to the audio tab. The external speakers are selected as default. Just temporarily select the headset and then click on volume just below. You can now set the volume for the headset, click OK and click cancel (!!!) on the sound control dialog box. This way the external speakers remain as default output.

Skype-->Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->audio device/USB/etc Audio Device (do NOT use windows default device)
You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even
if the main speakers are off or turned down.

Windows:
Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices
On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard(AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc.
Your installed audio device must be present there.
If not, reinstall audio device

thanks
good luck

My microphone does not work

Not much information here about your computer or OS
If you have a laptop with a built-in mic - you will now have 2 mics and you will have to make the webcam mic the 'default' ( The one you wish to use )

Set up Audio

Laptop x webcam/mic x Vista

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
Set required mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click OK
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays
Restart computer and configure the webcam to the program you want to use it in

If you have an earlier OS you may have to access the audio hardware from the Control Panel

Canon FS200 won't fully initialize 32 GB SDHC card

I heard about that quite a lot of time,in deed. But, I personally haven't load 16 or 32 GB memory card in Canon FS200. At the very begining, I was thinking of using 16 GB SDHC card instead of built in 8 GB memory. The shop assistance don't advice me to buy more than that 8GB because he also know that problem. So then, I am still using with 8GB untill now.
