My screen flickers when I plug my laptop into my NEC projector. I've already worked with the pixels!

This is new (to me) Dell computer through my company. The screen that flickers is actually the NEC 100 projected view which happens when we increase the pixel size to greater than 800/600 per the instructions from the laptop.

I have worked with our company tech guy and he has been able to stop the flickering on ALL except one, ledger producing software. ALL visions of the Northwestern (company) website work fine now except for our ledger program which requires larger than 800/600 for me to get the entire screen on the wall - when I do that, the flickering starts. Control Panel/increasing the pixels creates both flickering and the screen does not respond the way I desire.

Is there a way for you to talk to me more directly?

The first thing you will need to is make sure you have the newest drivers for your video card. Next you will need to make sure you have the most current display drivers installed for the projector. The links below will show you how to do this in Windows 7 let me know if you need another version's steps.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r4290666-install_monitor_drivers_in_windows_7

After doing this if you still have trouble what you will need to do is contact your video card's tech support to see if they have a custom driver that will support the projector or if they can make one for you. If they have to make one you may have to contact NEC support to get info on the projector.

I used to work for one of the leading graphic design video card company's tech support and we had to do special drivers all the time.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

Hi. I assumed that the screen you are referring to is your laptop LCD screen. Is it continuous flickering? Can you describe more? Thanks.

NEC 100 projector can only support 2 resolution settings, 800x600 (native) and 1280x1024 (resized).

    (Reference:http://reviews.cnet.com/home-theater-pro...

Set your display to extend to NEC projector, your display should be 1 (your laptop) and 2 (NEC). Resize the screen resolution on your NEC 1280x1024 screen size and refresh rate to 70-75KHz. This should fix the flicker.

Your DLP chip is damage or getting to been damage.
** To make it sure you can do it your self by getting some basic tools such as proper screw drive, and open your projector for parts.
And you can physically observe the Chip.
Please check by side angle on the chip surface. **

The Smartboard projector is making weird black pixel splotches on the projected picture. We've changed lightbulbs and lens.. from another smartboard projector, but it still do the same thing.

The projector may have dust and require cleaning. The VGA cable or a VGA port could be failing. You can contact SMART Technologies directly with the model name and serial number of the projector for further support: http://www.smarttech.com/contactsupport

THere are an increasing number of white spots (damaged pixels?) on the projection screen. It started with one, and one flickering, now there are 4 clear spots, and another flickers. Can this be solved?

If the spots are well defined rectangular shapes, then DMD pixel failure would most likely be the problem.
You could replace the DMD chip, but it might be more economical to sell the unit as is and buy a new one

Nec vt470 lamp does not come on. replace lamp, when turned on status light turns red and get 3 beeps. lamp does not come on.

If you replaced the lamp already, chances are the ballast is defective. When you power on the projector with the power button you should see a flicker of light in the lens, or an electrical sound. If you don't you ballast is bad.

VT45 Projector: Blue pixels throughout screen

If the problem is what I describe as a blue haze over the entire image projected, I was told this is a defect in the cable - we have a Dell Video Projector 2300 - and it takes only a dell VGA cable.

So, the problem is in the cable - solution is replace cable.
