Maybe your chain brake is malfuntioning, or you may have inadvertantly engaged it. Try pulling the little lever that looks like a handguard right in front of the front handle back towards the saw, it may take a bit of pressure. I have also seen that happen when someone way overtightened the chain.

Baxter revolving tray oven chain questions. I have a few questions below. Thank You

Slack is necessary to prevent early failure of the bearings on the wheels. It is also necessary for proper operation when the oven heats up. slack shouldn't be too much or the chain may fall off the teeth. Too tight and you have wear. The abrupt stopping indicates the need for lubrication of the motor.

My gear will turn without having the chain on . When chain is attached it the motor just works. No chain movement

I wasn't familiar with your saw but I looked at the parts diagram for it in the link below thinking there may be a replaceable drive pin or something like it that would possibly have sheared.
http://www.masterparts.net/111409-01.html
I didn't see any. That would indicate that the sprocket may be stripped out on the inside and would require replacement, or, that there is something stripped inside the gearcase. If you look at the diagram, the motor shaft is parallel with the handle. So to drive the sprocket gear that drives the chain, they use gears inside the housing to turn the sprocket that's at a right angle to the motor shaft. Do you follow me? It would appear from the parts diagram that if it is those internal gears, that it would require replacement of the whole motor/gear assembly ...... probably as expensive as a whole new saw!

The reason that the sprocket turns without the chain on is that there is evidently enough friction between the shaft that the sprocket mounts on, and, the sprocket. But not enough of a connection to drive the chain.

To check further, leave the saw unplugged, and use your finger to try to turn the sprocket. If it turns by hand like that, it would indicate that something is stripped out as I said. To see if it is the sprocket, remove the "Retaining Ring, 5/16" that is shown in the diagram, and inspect the inside of the sprocket. If that appears good, then it would be an internal problem and probably not worth fixing.
Good luck!

I have just bought a brand new Mac cs 400t and upon assembly the chain won't move freely once the chain tightening outer nut and bar nob are in place. I've started the motor but when I give it some...

With the cove off you should be able to turn the sprocket easily, if not the brake is on, grab the hand guard and pull it fully back toward the rear of the saw until the brake clicks and the drum can be turned.

I have a Craftsman 1/2 hp, mod # 139.53603. When I press the remote or the panel button there is a humming sound from the motor. I opened the panel on the back and did not see anything out of line, etc. ...

Is the trolley jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor? If so, loosen the chain until the tension is off the trolley and then run the motor until the door is closed. Now locate the up limit on the side of the motor unit and turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

Snow Bear Winch..... Will not pick up plow at times. Motor seems strong drum will not turn,,,slips. Is there a replacement part available without buying an entire winch? Thanks

Hi there, I had the same problem, my winch has a chain to lift the plow.I put oil on the chain to keep from rusting and thats what started my troubles. So I took the mount off that holds the chain on the winch and there's a brass piece that is squeezed behind it.Cleaned and tightened it and works fine now. If you take motor off winch to check gears[ DON'T USE GREASE] when reassembling! When its cold it doesn't want to turn, just use motor oil or spray lube

I need to get to the timing chain for my 1986 threewheeler but i dont know how

Make sure the motor is on TDC.

You'll have to pull the rockers off and then you'll see the timing chain. the chain goes around the gear that is bolted to the camshaft(s) and then down around the crankshaft gear.
There will be a timing chain tensioner on the side of the motor. Lossen that to take the tension off the timing chain.
Now you can remove the chain from the cam gear, you may have to remove the cam gear bolts and the cam gear to get the chain off.
I reccomend that you mark the position of the cam gear so you put it back correctly.

If you just want to inspect the chain, just pull of the rockers and spin the motor to observe the whole chain and if it has any stiff spots or seems stretched.

Garage door opener motor runs, but the chain drive doesnt turn

If the chain is not moving and the motor is – you need a gear kit.

Unplug the unit - take of the cover – you will find white shavings inside – these confirm the diagnosis. .

Get the gear AND sprocket kit.

It’s a good DIY project but you MUST VERY CAREFULLY Follow the instructions step by step.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Motor runs but gear doesn't turn on my Craftsman 1/2 HP

What did you pay for near gears. curious. often get stripped gears in cold weather as door is frozen down to ground. if possible, kick door bottom edge with heel to break bound if you suspect it is frozen to ground.
