Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

The sound on my desktop computer (Dell) suddenly went out. The little green light on the speaker is still on, so I don't think it's the speaker. The computer is old. Thanks for any tips on what to do. Greg Flynn

Yes. The icon for the sound was actually hidden, but when I clicked on a little square, additional icons popped up, including the sound one. It had indeed gone to "mute"

Hello

on the computer, do you see the small speaker icon in the bottom right corner, is it muted? double click to open up the volume control, make sure its not muted and turn up the volume.

another place to check is, start -> control panel -> classic view(optional) -> sounds ->

you should see something similar to this: If you are on windows xp

The sound on my desktop - ed4c4cc.jpg

On all 3 parts of the page you should have something, if any is empty, try to change it to something else, if there are no other options let me know.

Sound problem

My guess is if you try headphones and all is ok , then it might be time for some external speakers to be added as I might be inclined to think that the internal connection or the speakers that are internal are faulty of course this can be fixed but probably at a much higher than simply adding some external speaker set up which can be as little as $10:00 or less up to over $100 :00 for a system surround , but if you are happy with a twin speaker system then I would go foe that option

Front inputs? (green and pink not working)

I thought the front was for a microphone and headset. I don't think those are speaker jacks. Look closely at the icon that is next to the pink and green on the front, does it show the icon of a microphone and headset?

Normally the speaker jack will show and arrow going out which means sound going out. If you look at the speaker port in the back of the computer it is normally the light green port. Notice the icon on it. Does the icon on the front look the same as the one on the back? Is the color on the front the same as the one on the back? I think you're plugging into the wrong port.

Make sure you have the volume up in your Audio/Sound properties and make sure you don't have the speakers on mute. Also make sure you turn the speakers on and turn the volume up on them.

Dontno sound on speakers

Make sure the speaker cable from the speaker is connected to the speaker plug on the machine, usually green. If the speakers have an AC adapter make sure it is plugged into the wall outlet and to the speaker. Make sure the sound card is configured and working correctly. Make sure you don't have the sound muted. I hope this helps. Good luck and have a great day.

My dell computer will not recognize the logitech speakers. I think it is something to do with the usb plug in versus a normal "jack" type plug in. I am using Vista as my OS>

Ok firstly make sure that the the speakers are connected to the green port at the back of the system tower. connect the usb cable to the usb port.

check with a headphone if there is sound . If sound is present then connect the speakers as above and then click start control panel - sounds - on this screen see if the speaker icon has a green check mark beside it , if not then click on the speakers and click use default device option present at the bottom of the screen. This should fix it.

In cases where the screen is greyed out .
strt - rgt click on computer - manage - device manager - audio device - chcek if ter is a yellow ! or red X beside it al;so check if you see other devices on screen
You could reinstall the audio drivers from the dell website support.dell.com for a DELL desktop . Reinstalling audio drivers should fix it.

try using the speaker on other system .

Hope its informative :)

Attach speakers that came with Dell Inspiron w/Vista to the computer or to an older subwoofer

Speaker cable is most likely a green plug, which fits into a green port on the back of your PC.

I need to hook speakers up to my Dell B110 computer.

2 things are needed to get sound from your speakers:

1-wiring connecting your speakers to a socket to the back of the computer. (The spot they need to plug in to ON YOUR COMPUTER is a small light green circular socket. The other end of the plug you plug in here should run to one of your speakers *usually the right side speaker-the right speaker should then have separate wiring to connect the left speaker.)

2- A source of power.
Some speakers use their own power source and plug in to a power outlet - your wall. Other types have a USB type plug and plug into a USB port in your computer and that is how THOSE get their power.

Those are the basics of sound setup. Some computers are equipped with more complicated setups such as surround sound, subwoofers, digital and more. Reply if you need more help, I will try to assist you further.

Hope this helps.

Hi, They suddenly stopped working, think I

Try another speaker set.
If this does not fix it, then consider the sound card if it is removeable, get a new one. If it is internal, turn off the sound and install a sound card.
