Our Kenmore 665 was leaving white flecks on dishes and glasses

Our Kenmore 665 was leaving a film on the glasses and so we ran a vinegar rinse. that cleared up the film a little on the next wash. however, we are still getting little white flecks on the glasses. When I rub the flecks with moisture, they dissolve so I assume it is soap. How can I get rid of these flecks? We have added the special rinse solution.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.

For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is not accumulated in the dishwasher, if it is in dishwasher then check for clogged drain hoses and drain pump.

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

The dishwasher is working, but there is a soap like film left behind on the dishes, glasses and silverware. It's a Kenmore dishwasher.

Hi
White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results.
You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle.
Hope this helps... Please post back if more information is required.

Have you tried cleaning a single glasses with vinegar. Take a glass, soak it in vinegar for a couple hours, wipe it dry and see if the film goes away. If it does you know vinegar will work to help. I use vinegar with every wash now cause the film builds up quickly. If the film doesn't go away then it is likely that the glasses are getting etched by a corrosive detergent.

Getting a white film on all dishes and inside dishwasher.

You need to use a rinse agent and be sure the water temperature is between 120 and 140 degrees.
To determine if this film is removable, soak a glass in white vinegar 5-15 mins.If it doesn't come off, it is etching. Otherwise it is probably caused by the wrong amount of detergent or hard water.
You cant remove etching, but you can prevent it in the future by making sure the water temp is no more than 140 degrees,& do not pre-rinse dishes.
For both problems, if you have very hard water-over 12 grains- and adjusting the detergent amount don't work, you may consider getting a water softner

Our Kenmore 665 was leaving white flecks on dishes and glasses

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

My Frigidaire dishwasher is leaving soap, a lot of soap, on dishes under where the dispenser dispenses. It just started hapening. Also, it has always left a light film on the clear glasses.

I scrubbed the screens with a brush and added two cups of white vinegar to the bottom of the washer, then ran it. Cleaned up nicely. I most likely will add a cup of vinegar once a week.

6 month old GE dishwasher now leaves heavy film on dishes...

As far as using the vinegar, this should be complete when there is NOTHING in the dishwasher. The idea is to remove the build up inside, not clean the dishes. Make sure to use only White Vinegar. Also, changes in the water of any kind can cause a build-up. Try using a little less detergeant and rinse.
