I've found that it's easier to thread by eyesight than that darn "hook" that you can't see! But after 12 or so attempts, I found out that you have to LET GO of the thread that you're holding in your right hand once the hooks start to go backward. It still takes too many times to get it right.

The automatic threader wont pick up and thread needle. Can do manually but thats not easy?

to make manual threading of a needle easy buy a needle threader
it is a instrument that has a very fine piece of wire in a loop that you push through the eye of the needle , put the thread in that loop and pull the loop back out of the eye and the needle is threaded
available from most any shop that sells material , cotton , thread or sewing machine shops
cost --pack of 2 for $1.00 or there abouts

Top thread is shredding Automatic needle threader stopped working

If the top thread is shredding it is usually because the needle and thread are not compatible. If thread is too large for the eye and the thread groove, the action of sewing will cause the thread to shred as it pieces the fabric.

Try a different needle and thread. Here's an excellent web site:

Difficult to use auto needle threading

you thread the machine the normal way, using every thread guide, and if the automatic theader works it will thread the needle,
if the auto threader doesn't work, then it needs to be checked.
also make sure the needle is turned the correct way and inserted correctly into the needle holder.

After automatic thread cut the needle comes unthreaded

you need long thread tails, of 3 to 6 inches for the top & bobbin thread so the needle doesn't come unthreaded,
also pull the thread behind the needle before you start to sew

Top thread on my Brother Limited Edition 350 Sewing machine keeps breaking. Having used the automatic cutter, the thread pulls up and out of the needle when I want to start sewing again. Also the machine...

rethread the machine
try a top thread tension of 3 or 4
change the needle
always keep a thread tail of 3-5 inches on top & bobbin thread & keep the thread pulled back behind needle before starting to sew
always keep the bobbin area clean of lint & loose thread
& check under the needle plate for lint also
you might consider having the machine serviced, since you said it sounds like a tractor
some needle & thread are not compatable-try this

Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

Make sure the little hook is lined up with the hole in the needle and that your needle is not inserted backwards. Flat side should face the rear of the machine,

I own a singer simple sewing machine

By threading part, do you mean the automatic threader? I've never had much luck with them. Yes, you can thread the needle manually.

Happy Sewing!

How do I thread it

Follow the thread from the spool through the first thread guide at #1 straight down to #2 and up to #3 (make sure that the thread is through the take-up lever (silver hook) at #3 from three you will bring the thread straight down to the thread guide that is to the left of the needle. Thread the needle from front to back.
