Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Our Fisher & Paykel GWL 11 will not stop adding cold water at the point where it finishes the initial wash cycle (first light) and begins the agitation cycle (second light where the tub fills and it agitates for three lights). If I can catch it at this point and turn the cold water valve off it stops filling and I can open the cold water valve again and it continues as normal. If I don't catch it, then it keeps filling and emptying (siphon effect?) while beeping and flashing the last wash light and first rinse light. Is it the cold water valve, the level (pressure?) sensor, or the control board?

I'm thinking the same thing, however the washer does let shorter sprays of cold water in during the spin cycle like it is designed to. Today I have been using it and turning off the cold water where I have to in the cycle to keep it from going into the "Flood" warning. Now it is filling very slowly. Does that sound like the cold water valve is experiencing further failure? Thanks.

Water inlet valve. It's at the back where the hoses connect to the washer. You may have to remove the back to access it.

If it fills with water and starts the cycle and the water keeps running in then your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is sticking. It needs replacing.

If the valve is sticking because of sediment getting in it , it will work at times and when you cut the water off is may be letting the grain of sand etc. dislodge. When it just trickles in the sediment or wear isn't letting it open all the way. If you can swap the two wires on the cold with the two wires on the hot valve or swap the hoses so that the hot water valve is working you can see what it is. It should work normal except you'll be getting hot water.

During the rinse cycle, our GWL 11 Fisher & Paykel

The problem is in the pump, so it will not pump out, you will need to find another way to empty it, removing the agitator will make the job easier.
When you get the water out the pump can be accessed from underneath, it turns anticlockwise to remove it,.
I would buy a new pump as it is most likely that is all that is wrong with it.
