If there are no broken components of the slide change mechanism and it is only an adjustment problem, do the following:
1. Remove the bottom cover
2. At the front of the projector (near the elevation wheel) you will find (2) 1/4" head screws going through black rubber grommets. Loosen the screw slightly.
3. Next to the screws you will see a cutout in 2 pieces of metal that when looked at together, resemble a diamond shape.
4. With the projector on in FAN mode only (NO LAMP!), simultaneously press the reverse button on the side of the projector and with a flat-blade screwdriver inserted into the diamond-shaped slot, twist gently to move the plate the 2 screws go through up or down until you get cycling in reverse. If you go too far you will get buzzing, which will indicate that the solenoid plunger is bottomed out in the solenoid coil. Once you get acceptable reverse cycle, tighten the 2 screws gently and turn the projector right-side up. Verify the correct action in both forward & reverse cycle. Adjust further if necessary. If OK, tighten the 2 screws and re-install the bottom cover. You're done!

Fix focusing on ektagraphic remote control

Ektagraphic III A did not have remote focus. Someone has probably substituted a remote from a higher functioning model on this projector. The forward / reverse functions on the supplied remote will continue to function correctly, but the focus buttons will not.
Good Luck !! Jim

Kodak Ektagraphic AF-1 will not advance or reverse

If the select button functions correctly, Chances are the direction lever in the mechanism is bound up or the Direction Lever Spring is broken. If the Spring is broken or the Direction Lever is bound up, the Index Lever will go out straight when the Advance / Reverse buttons are pushed - instead of moving out straight , then moving forward or reverse at a 45 degree angle.
The Slide Change mechanism needs to be re-built. The bad news is this projector was manufactured from 1976 to 1984. Kodak scrapped the repair parts in the early 1990's. Your best bet is to find a repair shop that has a projector that they can salvage parts for your projector from.... Good Luck !!

Kodak Ektagraphic AF -2 carousal not rotating

Given the age of the projector, I suspect that the solenoid link is broken. The link joins the solenoid plunger to the cycle lever. The good news is you can still buy parts for your projector. purchased the entire projector parts inventory from Kodak a few years ago. They can also help you with instructions to install the parts, or if you prefer, hook you up with a trained service technician to perform the repair for you. Good Luck! Jim

You should still be able to get an AF-3 manual (e-copy) from the Kodak website, or contact the George Eastman House Museum. Good Luck!

Slides won't advance or reverse

The AF-2 is suffering from old age! The problem you are experiencing is "continuous cycle", and is caused by the cycle contact either being bent or worn to the point it can't stop the cycle camstack at the end of a slide change. If you are familiar with projector repair, I can give you specific instructions. Otherwise, I suggest you locate an authorized repair dealer. Even though the projector is old, all the necessary parts are available from:

Just purchased a Kodak Ektagraphic AF1 & neither manual/auto focus or slide advance work. My other Kodak Ektagraphic AF had both auto & manual advance broken as well. Used it for many years. Was...

The model AF-1 did not have remote focus feature. It does have the Auto-Focus feature. The auto-focus adjustment is a pretty "fine-tune" adjustment that requires a factory alignment tool & a trained hand.
Your model AF is quite old, and probably requires replacement of the "link" that connects the slide change solenoid to the slide change mechanism. The problem is the plastic the "link" was made of gets brittle over the years and cracks, rendering slide change non-functional.
Both problems are easily remedied by a qualified repair dealer with the tools, training and parts.

My Kodak Ektagrafic AF-1 Projector just stopped advancing and reversing while I was reviewing slides. I had been using both forward and reverse buttons. There is nothing stuck in it. It will not advance...

The KODAK Ektagraphic AF-1 was manufactured from approximately 1971 to 1981.
The problem you are describing is most likely a broken cycle solenoid "link". The "link" connects the cycle solenoid to the slide change mechanism. The "link" is made of plastic, which gets hard, brittle & could break over time.
Parts are still available, but the repair process is a intricate one. My best advice is to seek out an Authorized Repair Dealer.

I'm having trouble changing the bulb in a Kodak Ektagraphic AF-1 slide projector. The bulb doesn't fit easily into the housing and I don't want to force it.

First of all, verify you are using the correct lamp: it should be a 120volt, 300watt, ANSI Code "ELH" lamp. (This may seem too basic, but you'd be surprised at the number of people who try the incorrect lamp).
If the lamp is correct and you can not insert it by pushing the base of the lamp into the terminal connector relatively easily, then chances are you have a build-up of material on one or both of the lamp contacts caused by arcing (arcing is caused by loose lamp terminal contacts). If this is the case, then you need to replace the lamp terminal assembly (the ceramic-like white piece the lamp terminals should slide into). You should still be able to buy a lamp terminal assembly for your Ektagraphic AF-1 from:
Good Luck !!

AF-3 carousel, lamp on but light guard prevents picture

Based on your description, I suspect the coil spring that tensions the "dark shutter" has either broken or has popped off it's mount. To be absolutely sure, take your projector to a factory-trained repair dealer.

I need a instruction manual for the Kodak Ektagraphic AF-2 slide projector.....Where can I find one.....It is a 80's model with the round carousel at the top....Thanks...Susan

I believe they still have a .pdf version in the Kodak website ( - then search on "slide projectors).
If you have a specific question, re-post that question & I'll give it a go...
