My john Deere sx95 blades not engaging plz help

When the blades on my John Deere fail to engage, I climb off the seat and look to see if the belt is still on. Belts get thrown, especially if you have too much grass on top of your deck. They also get stretched too much. I took a permanent marker and drew a picture of the direction of the belt around all of the pulleys. (Most mowers have this somewhere like on the deck or under the hood but I did my own).

Are you sure it is the correct blade and when it is turning the sharp edge is on the leading side? A spinning blade will cut grass even if the blade is dull. Did you lower the deck to the correct level?

jack the tractor (using a tractor jack) or remove the deck, measure the blade tips against each other where they meet in the center of the deck and see if they are the same tip to tip. Bearing wear, a bent deck or blade can make them cut at different heights in the center.

Uncut grass in center & higher grass cut on right.

Hi, this may sound obvious but make sure the new blade is the same type as the old one and make sure it is not fitted upside down. Spin the blades and make sure the tips are level with each other, this will tell you if the deck is straight where the blade spindles mount. Regards Phil.

Blades do not seem to have enough rpm at full trottle it leaves grass standing, have replaced all belts, tension spring, deck bearings, deck pullys, mule drive and front pto. new blades. what have i missed....

Are your blades rotating the right direction? Check to make sure that the blades are leading with the cutting edge as they spin. I'm not trying to insult your intelligence or anything, but on occasion we all goof on something, and I've actually had a few people bring me mowers that acted exactly like this, and I found that the blades were upside down, or they had the belt routed incorrectly and they were spinning the wrong direction.
