The remote will not work, I have put new batteries in the remote and it will not work. However, the remote works on an identical t.v. I moved and the t.v. and it was unplugged for a couple of hours. Any ideas of what is wrong and how to fix it?

If the buttons work on the tv, it sounds like the infra red receiver board has gone faulty. This is located on the bottom front of the tv behind the lens on the front. if the tv is in the prescence of a smokng environment sometimes the infra red led gets contaminated and needs cleaning. Otherwise, replace the pcb. If the buttons on the tv dont work then it may be either a connecton to the main pcb or a faulty main pcb.

I bought a replacement remote for Toshiba TV and it was the same model number CT-90325 same as the original. but it won't operate the TV, does it have to be programmed to the TV somehow?

Sounds like the manufacturer did an upgrade. You can look up the remote control codes for that TV. Turn the TV power on. Then using the codes you found set each one into the remote you have and check the functioning by trying to turn the TV off. If you are unable to see instructions for setting the codes into your new remote, or if they weren't supplied by the seller, you'll have to find it's manual online and follow those instructions. It could be that Toshiba used the same control model for more than one TV set model. Often just putting in batteries will work but when it doesn't you have to treat the remote as a universal remote. If you can't use the primary unit setting to work you can try to set it up as an"AUX" unit as you would do for a second TV.

Why won't MX 900 turn on even after putting in new batteries

The obvious question here is: are the batteries installed the correct way? Here is a web page to download the operator manual:

http://www.universalremote.com/pdf/MX-900OwnerManual.pdf

Also; are your batteries good? are they making good contact? Has the remote been damaged by leaking batteries? Inspect and test.

Do you have the original remote controls for the devices you are trying to control? If so... do they work? Remember... they will need batteries too!

Are there manual switches on the device you want to control? Do they work? Can you turn it on and off?

We are moving through a process to identify which items work, which are good and which are faulty.

The remote to the fan/light won't work. I put in new batteries, tried to move the four little switches to every possible combination, but nothing works.

Did you also change the battery inside the fan's cowling. If you didn't that's the problem. Also, be sure your wall switch is in the ON position. If it's not, it overrides the remote control function.

My MKJ40653802 remote won't work even after putting in new batteries. The TV is hooked up to sky and that remote works fine + the Tv works on the buttons but not on the remote.Any suggestions

This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls.

Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.

Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!

Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to
each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)

Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.

Step 5- Try the remote.

Special Note:

If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. (no light means bad remote)
If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the set.

IF this does not work then;
you can turn the set off and unplug for about an hour to allow any EPROMs to reset. Next plug back in and try the remote.
If this does not work it

Will not turn off or on or change volume with remote

If you have verified the functions work by using the buttons on the TV then do the following.
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
If the remote does not work now then you may need a new one.

Can't use remote to open garage door

I had the same issue when I moved to a new place.

I was not able to find very much information on the interenet about it. Your remote has lost its sync with the garage door opener.

I called the 1-800 number located on the unit itself (yeah it took a ladder to get it) and the walked me though the setup in about 2 minutes.

I spent longer on hold than it took to setup the remote.

You need to make sure that you a clear on the model #s before you call them.

Sony RM-ASP001 for 400 disk changer stopped working

Try the command code switch. I recently had a similar problem when my remote suddenly stopped working. It worked fine one time but nothing the next time I tried it.

I checked the emitter with a digital camera and found it was not working. I did the remote reset (remove batteries and push all the buttons twice, reinsert batteries) and the emitter was now working. However, the remote would still not control the base unit. I did the remote base code reset (push power, volume and TV/DVD buttons together) but this did not help. I then checked the command code switch. This is a small three position slide switch located in the battery compartment on the remote. I slid the switch back and forth several times returning to the default number one setting where it was before. I did not change anything on the base unit but the remote now worked.

Hope this helps.
