Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Computer does not connect

NEW LAPTOP? Noticed a lot of post for same Laptop as same time.
If try to use wireless - you need to set-up wireless part of router and wireless part of laptop (Wireless Software).
Setup your network same it is on the PC.
Use Network setup wizard, if not know how in system manager, in the control panel.
Network Name is same on both, MYHOUSE is good.
The only thing different should be NAME, like SYS02,
PC would be SYS01, and IPaddress ( first 3 sections same as PC - Last section is indivual system - example follows:
PC = 192.168.1.40 then LT = 192.168.1.41
Suggest you hard wire laptop to router to verify network connection then work on wireless connection setup after you get connected thru hard line.

How do I do file transfers from one wireless laptop on a westell 6100 dsl model to another wireless laptop on the same modem. Neither laptop in connected to the modem via eithernet. how would I set this...

Hi There.. Please follow te below steps..

1) Connect your old computer to the wireless network. Nowadays most people use the internet through a wireless network. So basically, if you have wireless internet and you are able to get on the internet... that means you are connected.

2) Go into the networks settings. This is usually as simple as right clicking the network's icon and then clicking properties. What you want to do is turn on, "file and printer sharing" within the network

3) Now, go to the folders/data that you want to transfer. Right click or get into the properties of that folder. Check the box that says "share this folder with network".

4) On the new computer, connect to the wireless network. Under control panel or possibly the start menu, there should be an option for "My Network Places" or "My Network". In this folder you should find the data that you chose to share from your old computer. You can simply copy/paste or drag/drop the files to your new computer.

Now you are offset to transfer the files from one laptop to another...

First you will need a wireless router.Once you have this you will need to take a conection from the existing hub to use as a source for the internet.Configure the router as per instruction.

Connecting 2 computer

Your easiest way would be to go but a Switch and hook the two together then hook the switch to a single iternet connection.  (Most people think of a switch as a hub but a hub doesnt do as much.  You can usually pick up a lynksys switrch for 30 bucks)
If a sewitch is not an option then i would suggest getting anuther network interface card for the pc, put install it, and bridge the connection between the two network cards so the internet is comming in one then out the other to the laptob, then just hook the laptop into it.
short of that if you are looking to keep both computers on segfregated networks and then linkk them together then you are looking at a new network card for the pc and a usb to network adapter got the laptop then link the two togethter.
maybe it would be easier if you just transfered the files over the internet through a Ftp Clientlike cuteftp or blazeftp and not even link the two computers at all.  it may tak a little more time but it would be alot cheaper and alotr easier and if it s just small files you probly wouldnt even notice a difference.

Hope this helps.

3 com hub tp4 home network setup failure

There are several possible problems here, and more information is needed to identify which one is causing trouble. First, are you using a high speed dsl or cable internet connection? ...or is your Internet connection a dial-up phone line? This will have a significant effect on how your cables should be connected between the hub and the computers. Windows typically defaults to a 169... address when it is not properly connected to a shared network connection.
