Hi there,

Different cameras have there own specific features and means to take wide angle shots.

Some employ a 'Thumb' button marked with a 'T' and a 'W'. This stands for Telephoto and Wide angle.

Others allow you to start the camera up in a specific mode. These are usually indicated by icons that can be less than intuitive, like:

  • Mountains - Long distance
  • A Flower - Close up/Wide angle
  • A Runner - Fast shutter speed / action shot
  • A Head - Portrait
Still others are menu driven.

And then there are those that do not have the ability.

It depends on the camera model. Hopefully one of these can help you.

Best regards,
Mike

How can I change the date on photos already taken on my camera or take it off ?

Once the date has been stamped on the photo, it's there just as if you'd photographed a sign with the date. You can change or remove it the same way you change or remove anything else in the photo: by using a photo editing program.

How to connect vivitar wide angle lens and telephoto to canon t2i

make sure the vivtar lens is "58mm" diameter (shoutstate this near the fron of the vivtar lens) then it should be a question of screwing the lens on top of the other lens. not the best way of getting wide angle shots as the 18-55 is pretty soft in focusing already and adding another inferior lens will make it look poor. if you don't want to buy a lens i would suggest investing in a tripod and take multiple shots with the 18-55 and stitch them together with a photo editing tool like photoshop

Someone asked me to take photos with my Nikon D90. I have the 18-105mm lens that I got with it. Is this able to take 'wide angle' photos?? I know there are special lenses made specifically for wide...

The 18-105mm lens at the 18mm end of the zoom range is a pretty fair wide-angle lens. Look through the viewfinder and turn the zoom ring (the big wide ring at the front of the lens) one way and then the other. The 105mm end is the view that looks like you're using binoculars, the 18mm end is the view that looks like you're using binoculars backward.

I am having trouble photographing birds. Do I use the telephoto lens or the wide angle lens? I also have a macro lens for my Canon EOS 400D SLR Also what settings do I take them at. I have a tripod but the...

Use the telephoto lens.. wide angle will tend to distort the image and provide too much detail( distraction) around the object of interest. Bird pictures become more interesting when they are mainly of the bird. So when you look through the lens, zoom up to the bird to the point where you have it nicely framed with none of its parts outside of the frame.
Capture the whole image.

Wide angle lens is mainly used for scenery or where you want to take a group photo or panorama.

Wide angle cap vs wide angle lens

The cap is a plastic disk, usually black or silver, that snaps on at the end of the lens to keep the lens clean. Some lenses have two caps, one for each end when not attached to the camera.
Some cameras don't use a "loose" cap; those cameras generally retract the lens into the camera body and "close" a door in front of the lens.
Many, if not most, camera users do not use a cap (my guess).

The wide angle lens is generally an "optional" lens that can be used for group or scenery pictures when you want to shoot a "wide" picture. A "normal" lens is generally around 50mm (plus / minus 5mm). A wide lens is anywhere from 17mm to 24mm (or so).

I recommend obtaining a wide lens... with a cap.

Hope this helps!

I am trying to find a cheaper wide angle lens

Hello till1118, I would suggest picking up a copy of Shutterbug magazine. This lists new and used lenses for many styles of cameras and you might be able to find a mail-order bargain. A website I use many times for photo purchases is www.KEH.com or www.eBay.com. You'll find other lenses out there from secondary manufacturers for half the price. Good luck.

Wide-Angle Lense Fuzziness

That's completely normal for those cheap wide angle add on lenses. There good for a little fun but nothing serious. I bought the lens kit for the Kodak DC3400, probably the exact same lens. The telephoto in that kit was actually pretty reasonable though.

Wide Angle Lenses

wide angle lens aka fish-eye lens, means only the centre of your photo is clearly focused - especially in long distance scenery shots.
