Try also to do windows update while the camera is turned ON and is connected to the computer. Windows update automatically searches for updated drivers on Microsoft's database.

There might be an updated driver for use with windows 7. Check the support section of the nikon website. They may have posted the updated version.

You don't need any driver software, if your pc has windows xp sp2 or later and Windows Media Player 11.
If you have problem with your device follow this steps:
1. Connect the player to the computer.
2. From the computer, select start - Control Panel - Performance and Maintenance - System. "System Properties" is displayed.
3. Select Hardware tab, and open Device manager.
4. Open Universal Serial Bus controllers, and select USB Mass Storage Device or WALKMAN NWZ-XXXXX.
5. Select Action - Update Driver ... from the menu bar. "Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard" is displayed.
6. A dialog on Windows Update connection will be displayed. Select No, not this time., followed by Next.
7. Select Install from a list or specific location [Advanced], followed by Next for the hardware install method.
8. Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install., followed by Next for the search and install option.
9. Check Show compatible hardware, and then select MTP Device* in the model list, followed by Next. The device driver is installed.
10. "Completing the Hardware Update Wizard" message is displayed, and confirm "MTP Device" message. Click Finish.

For Windows Vista users: If the player is seen in My Computer when using MTP mode, but not showing in Windows Media Player.- Download the hotfix from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939211.- Run the hotfix.
NOTE: If you are trying to connect to a Computer at work that is part of a network, there may be user right restrictions that are set to disable access to new hardware or stop any program installations. You may need to check with your IT administrator to see if this is causing the problem.
Next:-- Refresh the drivers. Connect the MP3 player to the PC. The screen on your player should turn on, show 'Connected' and indicate the battery is charging or full. - If the player does not turn on try other USB ports or on another computer if one is readily available. Hi, player not recognized by the computer

This may be caused by one of the following:
1. Minimum system requirements were not met.
2. Corrupted drivers.
3. Computer restrictions.
4. Power issue.

To resolve this issue, try the following solutions:

SOLUTION 1 - For brand new player or first time connecting to this computer.

For Windows XP users: verify the following operating system requirements are met.
- Windows XP SP2 or higher
- Windows Media Player 10 or higher

Download and install the latest Windows Media Player if it's not installed.

For Windows Vista users: If the player is seen in My Computer when using MTP mode, but not showing in Windows Media Player.
- Download the hotfix from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939211.
- Run the hotfix.

For MAC users, see Sansa player not recognized by a MAC OS

NOTE: Sansa MP3 Players can connect to your computer in MSC or MTP mode. Exceptions are mitone mp4 player Connect and mitone mp4 player Express which only use MTP mode. MTP mode is the recommended and default method for mitone mp4 player Players when used with Windows OS.

The mitone mp4 player player will show up on Device Manager's right pane as:
1. USB Mass Storage device (if the player is set to MSC)
2. Portable Device (if the player is set to MTP mode)

If there is a yellow exclamation point (!) or question mark (?) beside the device, try to refresh the drivers.


STEP 3 - Refresh the drivers
1. Right-click the entry with the error mark, select Uninstall.
2. On the top menu, click Action then select Scan for hardware changes.

NOTE: If a device with yellow exclamation point (!) continually appears and disappears, then the player is most likely failed. Additional troubleshooting is unlikely to correct the problem.

If the player is detected in MSC mode but not when set to MTP mode, try to update or reinstall the mitone mp4 player firmware

NOTE: mitone mp4 player Express and mitone mp4 player Connect do not have MSC mode. For mitone mp4 player Connect you can try reinstalling the firmware using the Connect Recovery Mode.

Additional troubleshooting notes:
If you have replaced the mitone mp4 player Player and you still have problems getting it to recognize in the computer, then you may need to try some additional troubleshooting.
- Try connecting on another computer.
- Try using a different USB cable
- Try connecting to the back USB ports which may supply better power.
- If only MTP mode is not working, try reinstalling Windows Media Player
For Windows XP try also download and install the MTP Porting Kit.

Computer running under Windows XP says my device is not connected and yet it shows in Windows explorer?


Hi There..

When you say device is listed in windows explorer, butif the XP says device is not connected. Then i'd say the device is detecting as storage media (i.e MSC).
It needs to be connected as MTP. In this case i'd request you to update the MTP driver.
To update the MTP driver you can try two ways.

First Step:

1) When you connect the MP3 player to the computer you could see a SAFETY REMOVE HARDWARE on the system tray.
2) Right click on that safety remove hardware.
3) You will get a popup, in which you need to click on properties
4) That will bring the window in which you can see your MP3 player listed.
5) Right click on it and choose the option update driver.
6) This will update the MTP driver of the player and after that unplug the device
7) Restart the computer and now connect the device.
8) That will automatically update the drivers.


SECOND METHOD:

1) Go to device manager
2) Locate for the option that says USB and right click on it.
3) Try updating the drivers.
4) Now restart the computer.
5) That should work.

Having problem adding this device to my computer


1. Connect your ML648B to your computer with Windows XP or later.
2. By default your computer will recognize ML648B as GPX MTP Device. (Wait for few seconds to a minute allowing your Windows computer to recognize and install necessary drivers for the device for first time as MTP Device.)
3. Press the POWER button from top of your ML648B, to change it to USB mode connection. You will also see USB on the screen of ML648B. (Wait for few seconds to a minute allowing your Windows computer to recognize and install necessary drivers for the device for first time as USB device.)
4. ML648B will now mount 2 drives, one as Tools (as CD-Drive) and second as Removable Disk (Drive) – under My Computer on your Windows Desktop.
5. Double click & open Tools, and run Setup.exe to start installing Video Conversion Software tool.
6. Select defaults options and finish the installation by clicking on Close or Finish.
7. If asked, click on Continue Anyway on Windows XP or Install this driver software anyway on Windows Vista.

WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER WONT DETECT DEVICE


i had a similar problem (would not load driver) and was able to solve with the following: 1. install version 10 or greater of windows media player. 2. in Device Manager (hardware tab on System in Control Panel) right click the ? Samsung YP-T7J and pick update driver 3. Select No, not this time, Next> 4. Install from a list...., Next> 5. Don't search, I will choose.., Next> 6. Select Portable Devices, Next> 7. Select MTP Device, Next> 8. The drivers are copied and the device is recognized. There are other prompts depending on your media player config, but only pertains to how the device is handled. jlw.
