Contact list not available on voip321 handset

  • fteixeira Aug 15, 2008

The same problem here. When I start my PC all is fine and VOIP worked very well. I click in skype key "S" and I can to see all contacts listed in VOIP321.

But sometimes, sudently, the contacts was showed as UNAVAIABLE and VOIP321 dont work.

So I need to unplug and re-plug USB cable in my PC or restart PC to have VOIP321 back.

So pass some minutes and VOIP321 stop again. So unplg and replug to come back....

I dont found any solution yet.

Yes I too have the problem of "CONTACTS UNAVAILABLE". This is very frustrating as it seems to be an intermittent problem. Last night Skype was great and tonight we are unable to make a call.

same problem, when i press my s button to access contacts it says contacts are unavailable. To call others i have to do it manually from the computer but then they can't hear me so they have to hang up and call me back, only then can i answer and speak through the phone. in other words i can only receive incoming calls! Initially however the phone worked well.

i have been using my phone for almost 2 years with version 3. i have a clean new windows on the same computer. install my phone and skype and all I get is 'searching' and 'contacts unavailable' no matter what version of skype i use. VOIP has access to skype. I have rebooted a lot. I've taken the batteries out of my handset... nothing.

Voip321 was working fine on both a laptop running vista and a desktop running xp. Since I updated Skype I get the same problem. Installing new drivers from Philips hasn't helped.

  • simon_engele Apr 05, 2009

Philips 321. Just set it up but contacts unavailable when I push the Skype button. When i push the green button and listen I get an engaged sound. The phone doesnt also seem to be picking up the base unit and the sound for playing anything now on my laptop seems to have stopped !! Any ideas ????!!! Thanks, Simon.

Using Skype 3.8.0.180

Go to Menu-Tools-Options-Advanced and give your voip321 access to skype application.

I had the same problem, solved when I allowed the skype phone to access skype.

Hi there!    I solved the problem by checking the land line connection. It was wrong and once it got fixed everything worked fine. I hope your case is the same.

Hello
Connect the phone line and power UP the base unit. Place the handset on base to get charged. It must reset automatically when you place the handset on base to charge. If not; resetting both handset and base unit is necessary.
Resetting the Handset

You may need to reset your handset in the following instances:

You lose a handset and purchase a new one. When you try and register to your existing base you get registration

failure.

You are unable to register any handsets to the base.

You had a base which needed to be exchanged by the manufacturer. When you register your existing handsets

to the base, the handsets say #3 and #4, but you only have 2 handsets.

When you are instructed to by the one of the manufacturer's call center representatives.

To reset, do the following:

Press and hold [ ] and [#] for more than 5 seconds. Select DEREGISTER HS.

WHICH HANDSET? appears. Select the handset that you want to de-register, and press the OK soft key.

DEREGISTER HS appears. Select YES, and press the OK soft key.

ARE YOU SURE? appears. Select YES, and press the OK soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone. The

handset will clear its registration information from the base, and then delete its own base information.

MODELS VARY! PLACE HANDSET ON THE BASE FOR REGISTRATION OR REFER TO OWNER'S MANUAL. To

re-register the handset to the base (see page 25).

If the handset cannot contact the base, it will display OUT OF RANGE. Make sure the handset is in range of the

base and the base is connected to power.

Note: It is also possible to reset the handset back to its original factory settings. All changes including Caller ID information

will be erased. For more information on resetting the handset back to factory settings and when you need to

do this, see www.uniden.com or call our Customer Service Hotline. See back cover page for contact information.

Resetting the Handset without the Base

If your original base is not available for some reason (for example, it is lost or somehow incapacitated), you can still

reset the handset and use it with another base.

Press and hold [ ] and [#] for more than 5 seconds.

Move the cursor to select BASE UNAVAILABLE and then press the OK soft key.

BASE UNAVAILABLE appears.

Move the cursor to select YES, and then press the OK soft key. ARE YOU SURE?

appears.

Move the cursor to select YES, and then press the OK soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone. The handset

will delete its own base information without trying to contact the base. When the base information is deleted,

the handset displays MODELS VARY! PLACE HANDSET ON THE BASE FOR REGISTRATION OR REFER
TO OWNER'S MANUAL. Register the handset to the new base (see page 25). of its user manaul.
OK.

How can i do two way on panasonic 5.8ghz

These directions are for the KX-TG5451, KX-TG5452 and KX-TG5453.

If you want to use the intercom feature, you need to know the handset number for the unit you want to contact. The base is zero. The handset number is set when you register the handsets. So to communicate with the base, press Intercom on the handset followed 0. The base will ring until someone presses Call to answer it (or one minute whichever comes first). (Alternatively, you can use the up/down arrows to select H1, H2, H3 or Base. Then press the right arrow key.)

To communicate between two handsets, press Intercom and then 2 (from handset 1 or 3 to connect with handset 2). Again the handset will ring for one minute or until the person with handset 2 answers. (To answer, they can press the phone, speaker or intercom button.)

If someone at the base wants to use the intercom, they need to press Select until the appropriate handset number is displayed. Then press Call.

To transfer a call, press Intercom and then select the desired handset. When the intercom message is picked up, indicate that a call is being transferred and press Off at the handset or base that initially answered the call.

For a conference call, initiate the call then press Intercom and select the handset to join the conversation. Once that person picks up, then press Conf. (I believe that Conf is a softkey so check the display.) This is only possible with the handset. (Another handset can join the conference by pressing the phone or speaker button on that unit.)

The manual for the KXTG5453 is available here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/KXTG5451S.PDF .

If you have a different model of the Panasonic 5.8 GHz phone, please add a comment with the model number and I'll try to give the directions for that unit.

I hope this helps.

Pressed the left hand soft key to establish number of phone, and then pressed the number of the handset wanted, which then rings.

NEED TO DEREGISTER LOST HANDSET

The "END" and "#" key combination can be used for several purposes:

1) If wanting to use an ALREADY REGISTERED HANDSET on an alternate base, and if if the INITIAL BASE isn't available to deregister the handset:

1a) Press "END" + "#" until it for 5+ seconds (wait for it to beep)
1b) Choose the "Base Unavailable" option
1c) That'll deregister the CURRENT HANDSET so that it can be re-registered on ANY base.

2) If a BASE has a handset registered to it which you no longer want registered but the registered handset is missing or broken:

2a) Grab another WORKING handset which is properly REGISTERED to the BASE in question
2b) Press and hold the "END" + "#" key for 5+ seconds (wait for it to beep)
2c) Choose the "Deregister HS" menu option
2d) Pick the REGISTERED HANDSET # to de-register. (Every other registered handset EXCEPT THE ONE YOU'RE ON will appear in the list!)

Dialling from computer then taking call on phone?

Hi zappawo, This is impossible with the Philips VOIP321. A design flaw. You have to live with it or buy another one, like the GE/Thomson GE21878. I bought the GE with this question in mind. The GE does take over the calls from the screen to the handset. As it should be.

Use call phones through voip321

It took me a while to figure out but here is how I am able to dial out from skype to a hardline to a person not in my skype contact. Simply start to dial the number (not from the talk button!!!) then instead of hitting the talk button to dial, hit the skype button on the bottom left hand side. I also have to dial 001 then the phone number. Hope this works for you too. good luck.

Misplaced one of the phone

I looked up that model and they are equipped with intercom service.
What good would an intercom function (I ask myself) without some way to ring another handset? It wouldn't make sense to have to holler for someone else to pick a handset ;-)

The phone's control layout is identical to ours (it is 2.4 gHz instead) so check the lower right-hand corner for a button perhaps marked Hold & below it 'Intercom' printed.
Using that function, you choose the station # and it will ring the remote (lost) handset until someone picks it up and presses Talk or speakerphone button. .
