Question about Apogee Ensemble Sound Card

3 Answers

Downloaded the most recent Ensemble software from Apogee site, restarted the Mac Pro (Snow Leopard and Logic 9). Ensemble has locked up with all lights flashing - tried all kinds of reset combinations but the Ensemble seems to be stuck. Can anyone help? Geoffrey Richardson

Yes, and I tried re-booting, holding left hand encoder in and pressing power-everything flashing and un-changeable!

  • g_richardson Apr 24, 2010

Thank you, tried your suggestion, but the entire panel is flashing and unaffected by any combination of knobs/switches.

Tried reverting to the original software - no joy - front panel flashing - completely locked up..

It doesnt sound like the unit is operating properly, should see the status light on solid blue.

1. are you able to identify the unit in the control panel for the unit??
2. have tried to disconnect/reconnect the unit or possibly replacing the cable?
3. tried to disconnect, and reinstall the software from the cd that came with the unit.
4. check that sample rates match in whatever devices your are using.
5. not sure what reset combinations you use but if you haven't tried do the following:
a. turn the unit off
b. press the front panel left encoder and keep pressing while powering on the unit
c. keep pressing the encoder until the unit has completed start-up,

if this does not work you may have to check with the manufacturer to see if there's something else to try or to honor any warranty you may have left.

good luck!

If you haven't done this sequence, you may try and see if this works. Turn off Ensemble unit (or remove the power source if the unit is unresponsive) and remove the firewire cable connection to enter Stand-Alone Mode then reset setting to default by pressing in the front panel left encoder and then powering on the unit. Continue to press the encoder until the unit has completed its boot-up sequence.

How to set Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) to run in 64-bit mode

There are two ways to set Mac OS X Snow Leopard to run in 64-bit mode.
The first way is quite simple: you just have to hold down "6" and "4" keys while the system is booting up.
The second way is simple as well. You only have to search for a file named "com.apple.Boot.plist" in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration. Open it with Text Editor and edit line 9: where it reads "<string></string>", change to "<string>arch=x86_64</string>". Without quotes, of course.
Using the second way, Mac OS X Snow Leopard will boot in 64-bit mode whenever you turn on your computer.
PS: 64-bit mode is available just in some machines like MacBook Pro and Mac Pro. To check if your Mac supports 64-bit mode, write the following command in Terminal, again without quotes: "ioreg -l -p IODeviceTree | grep firmware-abi". You will get the answer "firmware-abi" = <"EFI64"> if your system can run in 64-bit mode or "firmware-abi" = <"EFI32"> if not.

The SpectraView II software included with my NEC LCD3090WQXi display was version 1.1.02. Snow Leopard requires version 1.1.03. I downloaded the new software from the NEC website, installed it and now everything is working fine.

Ricoh directs all users to Apple to review this link (below)to determine if their Ricoh printer meets Snow Leopard compatibility.

Ricoh Printers Supported for Mac OS X v10.6

If you find that your printer is on the supported list,
then you can download the driver software for Snow Leopard on the Apple Support site.

Here is the Apple Support Link:
Ricoh Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6

If you do not find your printer is supported, then unfortunately this driver download will not work for your printer in Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

Hi. I have a Macbook Pro with snow Leopard. I just bought Mac Quickverse bible study software black box edition. i cant open up some of the applications. Please help

You didn't say which version you have, but only the most recent ones work with Snow Leopard. The software developer keeps saying they are working on a fix for the earlier version, but I suspect in laymans terms that means they are waiting for us to give up and buy the new version. For now, we're stuck.
