Unfortunately most printers have what is called a Cache memory. once you initiate a print job the computer loads it in to the printer, Much like filling a glass of water then the printer takes slow sips so as not to overload the job..if you decide to cancel the print job at your computer you also have to hit the stop button on the printer. In most cases this will empty that "glass" Out and clear the memory. In Vista this problem is inherent to that O.S. I'm still an Xp kinda guy. I hope this helps. Be mucho blessed.. Mark

The issue usually occurs if you are using windows xp drivers on a vista machine. It's strange that the error does not come up when printing from internet explorer 7.0.

There is a file on support.dell.com that you can run to remove any xp drivers and then run the vista installation file. that should take care of these error messages from the operating system.

You need to cancel all print jobs for a printer, you must have permission to manage documents on the printer.

1. Open printers by clicking the "Start" button , clicking "Control Panel," clicking "Hardware and Sound," and then clicking "Printers."

2. To open the print queue, double-click the printer you are using.

3. Click the "Printer" menu, and then click "Cancel All Documents." Depending on the printer, the item currently printing might finish, but the remaining items will be cancelled.

Next, you may have to change the communication format called the "Spool format."
Please follow the steps given below to change the spool data format:
1. Click on "Start," "Control Panel," "Hardware and Sound" and "Printers."
2. Then, right click on the Lexmark printer icon and left click "Properties."
3. Either on the "Advanced" tab or the "General" tab for some models, there is a "Print Processor" button, left click it.
4. This is the spool format setting. Under "Print processor" it should be set to "Lexmark 4800 series print processor." Next, under "Default datatype," select "NT EMF 1.008."
5. Click "OK" and exit back out to your desktop.
6. Please try printing again.
If this does not help the situation, please describe any differences it does make.

cancel all the jobs in the quee.... reconnect the printer ....restart the system also ............. if status not changing reinstall the printer driver..........

I know this sounds too simple, but get a new USB cord. I had the exact same problem and it was driving me crazy. I followed all the advice about uninstalling, reinstalling and updating multiple times and it never fixed the problem. Finally, my husband made the simple suggestion that maybe it was a problem with the connectivity of the USB cord. I didn't have much faith in it, but I bought a new USB cord and hooked it up - and I have never had a problem with the printer since then. My original USB cord (the one replaced) was the one that came with the Dell printer - perhaps there is a flaw in the cord somewhere. ?

Samsung SCX-4500W restore wireless printing on cryptic error


For those having trouble wirelessly printing to their Samsung SCX-4500W printer from a Windows computer, I have this "easy" 13-step process that usually fixes my most common printing problem:

The symptom:
You haven't used your printer in a couple of days and have just hit the print button in an application you wish to print a document from. Instead of your printed document gracefully emerging from your printer, a Samsung status window appears on your computer above the task tray, cryptically announcing "The current printer port is not supported for the current printer status". You scratch your head in complete confusion.

The solution:
  1. Go into the room where your printer is. Observe that it has dropped its wifi connection and not reconnected automatically - the blue light indicating wifi is no longer illuminated.
  2. Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.
  3. Rebooting always causes a blank page to be ejected - how annoying! Open up the tray and reinsert the blank sheet.
  4. Wait for the blue wifi light to come on.
  5. Return to your computer and open the printer job queue window. Locate your document in this window with "Error" status next to it: right-click on it and select restart so its status changes to "Printing".
  6. After a while, notice the status has changed to "Error - Printing" or "Error - Sent to printer". Since restarting the job was not successful, right-click and select cancel. Press the OK button in the confirmation dialog. You may have to do this a second time before the job clears.
  7. Return to the application you printed from and re-print the document.
  8. Double-click on the blue Samsung "S" icon in the task tray. A window titled Samsung SX-4500W Series will appear in the lower right. Observe the status first says "Please wait..." then show the same cryptic message "The current printer port is not supported for the printer status". Grrrr.
  9. Check if your computer really can access the printer by opening web browser and typing its ip address. For me, it is 192.168.1.70. Alternatively, click the "Printer Setting" button in the window of step 8. Observe that the printer reports it is alive and ready for action. This is good.
  10. Check if any other Samsung software is able to use the printer: Open SmarThru 4 software, select "Scan To", "Folder", then hit "Scan" button. Observe that scanning from the printer works absolutely fine. Close SmarThru. So the problem is just the crappy printer driver.
  11. Close any Samsung windows you have open. Navigate the start menu to Samsung SCX-4500W Series->Maintenance. The installer will run in maintenance mode and find your printer on the network (and show its ip address), as well as an option to use it on "Local Port". Select the printer on network and click Next. Select "Samsung SCX-4500W Series printer driver" to repair and hit Next. The driver will re-install. Click Finish when done.
  12. Return to your application you wish to print from and activate the printing of the document again.
  13. The Samsung status window will once again appear in the lower right proclaiming "The current printer port is not supported for the printer status". Ignore this stupid message and close the window. Go to the room with your printer and with any luck, you will find your printed document waiting for you!

Once you are well practiced at this, and can fully appreciate how useless Samsung's software developers are, you can just do steps 1,2,3,4, 5, 6,11,12, and 13.

My printer won't print any document since the day that i accidentally unplugged the socket while i'm printing.. need your help. i've got so much to print.. thanks..


Open Printers folder from Control panel.
Open the priter you are printing to and see if there are any documents on queue. Delete all of them (Printer/Cancel all documents). Then close the printer's windows and look the status of the printer. If it is "Offline", right click it and choose "Use Printer Online". If the status is "Paused", right click it and choose "Resume printing".

Printer is not working. There is no error light on and the ready symbol light is on. Nothing willnot print


Have you checked if there are any Documents Stuck in Queue to print ? ( under Control panel - Printer and faxes folder )

Click on Start button
Click on Run
Type SERVICES.MSC and click ok
look for Print Spooler in the list
highlight Print Spooler,
Click on STOP button then click on START
close the window and check if the print queue is gone. ( Refresh the Printers and Faxes folder )

If this does not fix the issue :

Alternate method,

Click STart
Click RUN
Type Cmd ( or COMMAND ) and hit enter
In the black window type
NET STOP SPOOLER ( hit enter button )
Type
NET START SPOOLER ( hit enter button )

Repeat the Stop and START Command 4-5 times
End the Command with NET START SPOOLER

Open Printers and faxes folder - Refresh the Window - the printer will show Status ready with 0 document

My printer is not printing anything. the status light isnt even on what should i do?


Does the "Status Monitor" in your printer display any errors?
Is the printer cover securely closed?
Is any of the LEDs in the printer flashing?
What happened just before the printer stopped working? Did you have a poer failure? Did you install new software or hardware or a Windows update?

Please, report back the status (ON, OFF, BLINKING) of the following LEDs:

TONER
DRUM
PAPER
STATUS

Dell Photo 966 AIO won't print after trying to download Adobe 9


You need to restore your computer to a date previous to your Adobe 9 install. Click the following:
Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Restore. Choose an available date prior to the date you installed the problematic software.

Samsung CLP-510 Printer not printing...


Some network interfaces have been found to be defective. Try printing from parallel or usb until you can get a replacement network interface.
