I brought a Cadac grill BBQ about 2 years ago. We used it on the weekend and found that it wasn't getting hot. to our surprise it wasn't burning properly. there was no blue flame just a flame which made all the nuder neath turn to soot and very black. We took it apart and found that where the cylinder slides into the top of the cooker, that inside the sylinder is a blue plastic molding which has melted. there should not be any heat at all in this area, so can any one help with why and how 2 fix it.

My experience shows me the old steam engine problems.

No gastight connections where they should be.

So not the specified Kilowatts output.

Think of the old fashioned flanges witht the artificial (synthetic) rubber gasket between them. And the flangebolts which held them together, all with the same torque momentum in kilopounds/meter.

Check with good quality leak detection foam and/or use your imagination.

Alternative: look for YouTube High Definition

Dutch: ................... Trek in BBQ.
English: ................. Draught in BBQ.

Talkin' about airtight/gastight connections.

Furnace does not work when windy outside. Has an electric ignite, it either won't kick on at all, or it just blows cold air. The slightest breeze will cause it to not work. When there is no wind it works...

Hi,
The problem is withthe venting. Your vent pipe goes out of the house in such a way as to catch the air when it is windy and cause the pressure switch to cut out. The flame may only run for a short time, then shut down and then restart. The heat exchanger never gets hot enough to give you warm air.

Check where the vent pipes exit the house. Try adding on an elbow and turning it so that the wind cannot blow back the pipe. Turning it down towards the ground often is good. Make sure that the exhaust cannot recirculate back to the intake pipe also.
Also check that there is no water build up hanging in a pool where the vent pipe may have sagged a bit. this will make the pressure switch much more sensitive.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Cadac Carri Chef bbq replacement gas valve.

Remove grey plastic cover by removing two screws inside cooking area, then pop handle off valve, undo nuts to release valve body, carefully remove two screws in body, watch out for spring!
Take the small hexagon jet out of other end, find a small straight item that will pass through hole where jet was, tap the internal part out of the main body , clean everything up, probably carbon on it! Apply a tiny bit of oil to the plug you tapped out, avoid the tiny hole in plug! Now reverse the strip down, making sure that the valve goes back together the right way and still turns through right sequence! Normal cause of it sticking is not pushing it in whilst turning off!

Cadac eazi chef flame burns yellow and makes a lot of soot. This happened after i tried to light it and there was some kind of blow back and some smoke but no visible flame. I have striped it down as far as...

Yellow flame = not enough air. (Remember using Bunsen burners in school science lab? Air hole closed = yellow flame). Have you twisted the main metal tube (whilst trying to remove the burner assembly)? Remove the gas tube and metal plate (6 small cross headed screws). Draw out the gas valve. Look into the metal tube. You should see 3 slotted holes - the air holes. On mine they had twisted and were blocked by the plastic of the leg assembly. Using a good pair of pipe grips, rotate the metal tube until the air holes are clear. Then re-assemble. My Cadac Eazy Chef now works like new.

Cannot get the cadac to light

the blue tube is the air baffle, it should be in there but the people at cadac told me it will work safely without it. this baffle has been known to melt on occasions, i phoned cadac and they sent me out a new one free of charge. dont know why yours wont light though. mine produces a yellow flame instead of a blue flame?
