Question about Nokia N97 Cell Phone

1 Answer

My N97 dropped into water. In the screen there was moisture.. but in fixed it and it began working. After three weeks the touch screen didn't respond and neither the keyboard. I put the battery and sim card out of the cell and started it and it was running normally, everything worked. Now four days later when my battery was empty the cell tourned off. I charged it and now the touch screen works but I have to unlock it twice everytime. But the keyboard and menu, green and red buttons are unresponsive as well as the 5MP camera. What should I do to fix it? Warranty is not the option I know that. But where should I take it to repair it? I hope someone knows it! Thanks!

Do you think that after more than 3 weeks there is still water inside the cell? or what? Or you mean warming the board would help?

I dropped my n97 in water immediately removed the battery and dried it as much as poss even left it in a bag of rice for 3 days to absorb any moisture but now my touchscreen won't respond any help would be...

The problem you are having is a common one. All water - even fresh water - contains salt. Salt is an excellent conductor of electricity. Once water comes into contact with the circuit board in your phone, and then dried, salt deposits remain.

The salt (even in minute quantities) begins to move around on your circuit board short circuiting anything it comes into contact with.

Even having your phone professionally cleaned and repaired does not mean that it will remain in good working order for long. You'll just be chasing good money after bad in the long run.

If you carry insurance on your phone with your service provider, I'd make a claim. If not, you should contact your service provider and make arrangements to purchase a new phone. You'll be much happier in the long run.

Well the screen can be fixed by sending it to apple or one of many other repair shops. The water is the hard part. Your best bet is to fill a zip lock bag with dry rice and put your ipod inside and leave it for a week and maybe the rice will pull the moisture out. Water is a killer but once it dries out, you might be lucky. In the end it may cost more to repair than its worth.

My vu touch screen phone has water in the screen!!

The first thing to do is take out the battery to prevent electical damage.

Leave the battery door off and place the phone screen side down in a warm, dry environment (an airing cupboard is ideal if you have one).

You should leave it for several days, as the moisture will take some time to work it's way out. It could take a week or more.

You could try it again from time to time, but you will have to be patient.

It may not recover 100%, but it is possible.

I do this three or so times before it works:(. My phone was locked when somebody tried to call me, and as the screen was frozen, I could not answer....
HELP ME PLEASE.... I only got the phone about 2 months ago... This happens around 5 times a day.... There is a chip in the screen, could this be the problem? thanks

You may still have water in tight places due to water surface tension (such as touch screen). Open all the access doors, take out the SIM card, and anything else that is removable and put all parts in a ziplock bag. Get some dessicant bags (from old shoe boxes), cardboard pieces, saltine crackers and put them in the ziplock bag also and put on top of your microwave oven or in the window where it gets direct sunlight. Leave it there until moisture gets on the bag then disappears (3-5days) These items will help draw out all the moisture better than air drying. I have done this many times on cell phones, gameboys, etc. and it works everytime.

DS Lite Touch Screen does not respond to touch

on the top right hand side of the screen just under the front there are four or five contact pads this is where the touch screen get the info from the touch screen to the ds itself if you have taken the ds apart maybe the pads are slightly out of line this can be fixed by applying light pressure to the pads to make them stick down and get a proper contact
