Question about Panasonic KX-P7100 Laser Printer

As soon as the printer is turned on the red error light flashes and that is all that happens. I have tried a known working drum assembly and toner from a working machine same result, All I can get from the machine is the flashing red error light.. Can anybody suggest a remedy???

    Hi,

    I had changed the fuser assy before the problem began and it got worse after that. After replacing everything and swapping parts with a known working machine in frustration I swapped out the original oem toner from the unit and had instant success with the machine now working. It appears as I have used a non original drum in the assy for some strange reason known only to itself the machine stopped. I used a non original toner and it now works. I have never encountered this before but will always be remembered.

    Thanks for all your assistance in attempting to solve this little hassle it was appreciated.

Make sure there is not any paper jam inside the printer.
Open the side plate and back side of printer.
Then you can see fuser assembely.
Then make sure there is not any jammed paper and roller is working properly if roller is broken then you need to change it.
Then fix fuser assembely then check.

Hi! Try this and it may help. Unplugged the machine from power source then turn on the power button and leave it for 30 secs. while unplugged. Plug the machine again from power source then turn it on. This should reset the system and hopefully it works. Give me a feedback. HOpe this helps and have a good one!

I HAVE REPLACED TONER WITH THE CORRECT BROTHER TONER CARRTRIDGE AND THE MACHINE KEEPS TELLING ME TONER ERROR AND REINSTALL DRUM UNIT..HELP

Below are instructions that I have found from the internet. Hope that they will help.

  • Open the front cover of the printer.
  • Hold down the Go button for 4 seconds until all the LEDs light up. Then release the Go button
  • Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
  • Replace the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back into the printer.
  • Close the front cover of the printer
  • Your drum unit should now be reset
  • MFC / DCP PRINTER SERIES

    1.Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge. Wait 1 or 2 minutes.
    2.Replace the drum unit and toner cartridge into printer.
    3.The error message "Change Drum Soon/Drum end soon" will continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replace the drum unit.
    4.To clear this error message, you need to reset the drum counter as instructed below.
    5.Make sure that the machine is turned on.

    For MFC users: To confirm you are installing a new drum, press 1. For DCP users To confirm you are installing a new drum, press the Up Arrow key

    7.When the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover.
    8.Your drum is now reset.

    Resetting the drum unit will not improve print quality. It only resets your drum and allows you to continue to print. You decide when to replace the drum unit not the manufacturer!

Drum light flashes


This means that you will need to replace the drum soon. Order a new drum and when the light becomes steady or the print quality becomes poor, replace the drum. The drum should last ~12,000 pages. The part number is DR350. You may be able to order this from your Office Supply store; otherwise try the Brother Mall site: http://www.brothermall.com/Accessories/AccessoryDetail.aspx?AccessID=DR350&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 .

The procedure is similar to replacing the toner but instead of putting a new thing of toner inside the drum, you remove the toner and put it in the new drum. Open the front cover and pull out the drum and toner assembly. Place on newspaper or other disposable material (toner may spill). Push down the blue lever to unlock the toner cartridge. Remove the cartridge from the drum. Unpack the new drum (keep it out of the light until ready to replace the drum). Push the toner cartridge into the new drum until it locks into place; the blue lever should lift automatically. Put the assembly back in the printer. Clean the printer as recommended in the manual while it is open; this includes cleaning the corona wire before replacing the drum assembly.

After replacing the drum, reset the drum counter: with the printer on and the drum light blinking, open the front cover and press and hold the GO button until all of the LEDs light up (about 4 seconds). Then release the GO button and close the cover. Check that the drum light is off. (The manual says you should do the reset first but I tend to avoid this in case of distractions.)

you replaced the drum too soon, replace old drum until red light flashes then install new drum.

your printer is not inisilize properly. it is a logic card problem.so pls you can repaired it from printer vendor.

All 3 Error lights are flashing (4 if you count the GO button)!!


When all lights flash it's a service problem. You press and hold the go button and see what lights are on then.error light means main PCB failure, Toner light means fuser failure, drum light means laser failure. Toner and error light means main motor error, drum plus error light means its a fan failure.

There are actually some certain meaning on the red light and green light showing different information to user. The summaries are:
1) Green On, Red Off = Printer Ready.
2) Green Fast-Flashing, Red Fast-Flashing = Printer warm up.
3) Green Fast-Flashing, Red Off = Printer off-line.
4) Green Slow-Flashing, Red Off = Processing Data.
5) Green Off, Red On = Cover Opened, Toner Empty or Developer Unit / Drum unit missing.
6) Green Off, Red Fast-Flashing = Paper Jam or waiting for jam reset.
7) Green Off, Red Slow-Flashing = Paper Empty or Paper tray is not inserted.
8) Green Off, Red Off = Printer power is off.
9) Green Very-Slow-Flashing, Red Off = Printer in sleep mode.
10) Green (any condition above), Red Slow-Flashing = Toner low or paper empty.

So what is your printer condition? Better know what is going on your printer so can solve the problem.

The drum light came on (Brother HL 5240) and I replaced the drum with a new one and it still will not work... Any suggestions?


I continued looking and found where someone else had the same problem. I opened the front cover, held down the go key for 10 seconds and closed the door. This reset something because it works now.

Dell 1700 laser printer has Low toner and error lights flashing


Leave the printer on. Open the front and hold down the cancel button until all the lights are flashing in sequence. Close the front while still holding the cancel with the lights flashing and then release the cancel button. This should reset it.

Dell 1720dn Error and Toner light on


After replacing the drum unit you have to tell the printer that you've done it(it's not smart enough to figure it out itself). Have the front door open and press and hold the Cancel button on the printer until all lights flash in sequence then let go. Then close door and try.
