I hate to sound nasty but these days it would be cheaper to buy a used but working CRT monitor than try to get one repaired. I've seen 22inch CRT's going for $10. Nobody wants them now there's LCD and LED monitors.

If you are really set on getting yours repaired, try Ebay. You may have to wait a few weeks for your specific model to come up but it could even be available right now. It may even be better to ask the seller to pull the power supply for you and just send it to save on freight.

Strange it's the exact model name for a scanjet too.

Good Luck

Also, if you decide to do the work yourself. PLEASE make sure you do it with the plug out of the wall socket and be extremely careful where you touch. Even after switch off TV power supplies can hold a charge big enough to give you one heck of a shock. I've seen a guy break his wrist because he pulled away from the shock with such speed he smashed his wrist on the top of the TV cabinet. Also up around 25 to 30,000 volts can be running around in other sections and that's enough to kill or cause physical damage. We want to keep our customers so keep that plug pulled and let a TV set sit for an hour or more before working in it.

Blank screen, no light indicating monitor is on, makes clicking noise when i click to turn on. It is a hp mx705.

It is either the power supply or the deflection circuit.
If you can read electronic circuits and know how to use a DVM. Check the power supply voltages and the deflection circuit for any short..
Best of luck.

No picture on screen

Try connecting the CRT to a different (desktop or laptop) computer, to confirm that the CRT is still working.

Try connecting a different CRT (or LCD) monitor to your computer, to confirm that your computer is sending video-output.

If possible, try a different "data" cable between the computer and the CRT.

The hp mx 705 monitor was working, then it just went blank and black. the power button light, just blinks green.

If the computer is attached properly and you get the flashing lights it is due to switch mode power supply being faulty, too expensive to fix I think you will find, never seems to be anything like just a fuse I'm afraid, modern worlds tells you its time for you next monitor..... do try to ensure it aint the pc by hooking laptop or something else to this unit, or hooking another monitor to your pc to be sure but I find power supply failure is normally how monitors leave this world...

You will need to take it in for repair. This is most likely a power supply problem.

Monitor flickers

First check whether you didn’t put the Inverter or UPS or any kind of huge power supply which content the big or higher voltage transformer...
Secondly try the degauss button on the front panel of the monitor…
Third thing is CRT’s power supply section capacitor is leakage so you need to change…
(If you know how to remove the parts from the CRT other wise go to the CRT repairer.)
